“Nobody Cares About What’s Happening To The Uyghurs” In China

Billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya, a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors alongside majority owners Peter Guber and Joe Lacob, expressed what he called “a very hard, ugly truth” about China’s treatment of its Uyghur minority-Muslim population in the Xinjiang autonomous region.

“Nobody cares about what’s happening to the Uyghurs. You bring it up because you really care, and I think that’s nice that you care, the rest of us don’t care,” Palihapitiya said. “I’m telling you a very hard, ugly truth, okay? Of all the things that I care about, yes, it is below my line.”

NBA has said that this is not their position.
And then didn't say what their position is.

Of all the things that I care about, the NBA is below my line.

I wish the NBA would move their league to China. Then we wouldn't have to listen to their bullshit. Take Labron James sorry ass there first and get him out of here. All he talks about is how messed up America is.

Horrific the way they are treated there. I think they work them as slaves and keep them around to harvest organs from when there’s a call for one that matches.
Viruses, slave labor, pollution and the CCP. Helping to build a better today because there is no tomorrow. (I’ll work on a better tag line)

@KlonB We are back to you arbitrarily calling people communists for no real reason. This dude is a capitalist. An actual capitalist, in a sense that you never will be, because you are too small and limited.
And who is to stop China from treating these people as they do?
Answer: No one. China does as it wants and needs to.
@graphite China is and has been ascending and has made many rules and has much influence.
What international tribunal? China dismisses any such notions.
A nation that allegedly let potentially if not, infected persons to fly out of Wuhan and go abroad, yet controlled internal flights from Wuhan, does not concern itself with tribunals.

@soar2newhighs We farmed out all our manufacturing to them. They have us by the b***s
@graphite it’s about $$$, trade, and self serving interests and if it means using cheap and or forced labor, those benefiting won’t have issues. A US manufacturer has better opportunities and advantages not to be expected or given to them here, so why not go to China or elsewhere?
Not much that people could do anyway. It is not as if NATO or the UN would dare going anywhere near China.

Billionaire often =arrogance and apathy. This guy is a great example of that, IMO. That said I applaud his directness and being up front about it.

@soar2newhighs Arrogance, yes - apathy, not so much. Apathetic people rarely become billionaires in the first place.

Another leaf.
