If Trump had passed a major infrastructure bill he would haver been reelected

Instead he passed highly unpopular permanent tax cuts for the wealthy and temporary tax cuts for the middle class that will end up being a tax increase.
Maybe. There's also the not-so-small matter of Trump lying for 5 weeks about the dangers of Covid. Lying? Yes, his remarks to Woodward prove it.

Trump, Feb. 07 to Woodward: “It goes through the air. That’s always tougher than the touch. You don’t have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.”

Jan 22 “And we have it totally under control... It’s going to be just fine.”
Jan 24, he tweeted “It will all work out well.”
Jan 30: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
Feb 05 CDC started shipping test kits. They didn't work.
Feb 10 “Looks like by April, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,”
Feb 19 “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”
Feb 23 “very much under control,”
Feb 26 “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
Feb 26 “...when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
Feb 28 concern about coronavirus “is their new hoax”
Feb 28 “we’ve lost nobody and you wonder the press is in hysteria mode.”
Feb 29 said a vaccine would be available “very quickly” and “very rapidly”
Mar 02 “We’re talking about a much smaller range” of deaths than from the flu.
Mar 04 (to Hannity) “It’s very mild.”
Mar 10 “And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
Mar 13 “No. I don't take responsibility at all.”

@PTCdresser57 Well, could you very kindly forward him this?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PTCdresser57 “220,000 Americans dead,” he said during the Oct. 22 debate. “You hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this. Anyone who … is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America.” Wonder who said that....
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
He was re-elected if you only count the real ballots. He only 'lost' because of massive fraud and the unwillingness of America to face its rigged elections. They have been rigged for decades BTW.
@hippyjoe1955 Giant tinfoil-hat conspiracies are worldwide now, huh? What a sad little life you lead.

That was fake news. Fake news. Propagated by CNN and the Shrews on the morning talk show The View. Whoopi Goldberg is a deep cover agent of Chy-Na.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Ok PresidentDonaldJTrump..that is why I owe every yr in taxes...you shifted 1 tillion in taxes from the rich and companies to the average citizen. Go crawl back under that rock you crawled out from under.

@PTCdresser57 Again, fake news. I ordered a drone strike on the rock. There is no rock. The rock voted for the nasty woman in 2016 and it was a double agent for Chy-Na. The explosion was bigly yuuuuuuuuuuge.

I don't know why these things keep coming up.
I mean everyone is living a golden life now,joe has ended covi, no mandated vaccine, prices are nearly free, we can go buy anything we want.
Heating is almost free.
What else do you want?
Graylight · 51-55, F
Yup, and it's why badly needed but pricey legislation is rarely passed. people like McConnell and his ilk lack the ability to see beyond their own tenure. They'll accomplish every nefarious piece of shadow legislation they can. Whatever fallout occurs as a result of their actions or inactions are for the future to pay.

And so things get progressively more expensive and progressively more complicated and progressively more dire until the unlucky administration that loses this game of musical chairs has to own generations of inaction and the consequences. Biden, in passing giant legislation, is trying to secure a future at the cost of his presidential reputation.
Um, he did do the latter and sho nuff, he still didn't get re-elected.

I'm not sure why I replied. It's making my head hurt.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I think he was a shoe in for re-election before Covid hit .
1490wayb · 56-60, M
it takes more than one person to pass a major bill. takes many years of debate and compromise. as it is designed to happen
@1490wayb Trump promised a $1 trillion infrastructure bill and, in 4 years, didn't deliver. Biden, On Nov 15th of his first year, has already signed a $1 trillion infrastructure bill. It's merely a matter of priorities. Trump cared more about tax cuts for the top 10% so that's what he delivered.

Muldoon · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues wasn't Biden's bill a bipartisan bill?
@Muldoon Yes, Biden's infrastructure bill passed with a bipartisan 69-to-30 vote in the Senate. It has often been said that politics is the art of compromise. Compromise is how we get stuff done in Washington DC, and I'm glad Biden understands how to achieve it.
No he wouldn't have. If the man cured cancer, the left and Democrats would have screamed about all the Oncologists he was putting out of work. And how he was interfering with their right to die.
@PrivateHell But Trump wouldn’t have. He basically destroyed the healthcare plan that was in place because Obama implemented it. The GOP had seven years to offer an alternative to the ACA, or at least work out any problems with it (it was originally authored by a Republican, Mitt Romney). But they didn’t, because they did not want to be seen as cooperating with Obama—even to benefit the country.
That might have increased his changes but his complete fuck up of covid probably would have ended in exactly the same result, probably just a closer race.

Why does it matter now? Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Didn't.
