I’ve taken lots of drugs being tested with little or no approvals. Some perhaps kept me alive long enough that one eventually came along that fixed me. I’m a lucky man to have had this opportunity. Without it I’ve have been long dead. Lots of missed graduations, weddings, opportunities to provide help and an ear for listening if asked. Have I accumulated a nice list of side effects most permanent along the way? Sure. I knew if I was lucky enough to live I’d some a number (who knew what) but I really couldn’t of all that many much worse than being dead.
We are at least most of us anyways and knew from the beginning that these shots/vaccines whatever technically they are IF available would net save way more people than if not available and that due to the transmission process of this disease it would be likely that proof of having it would be required for certain things. When we got the shot we were glad to get it and implicitly agree to all of it.
During the course of Covid treatments and shots/vaccines being developed if I happened to be the one dead one so that 10K lived sounds like an overall good deal as opposed to say a 25% chance of being dead due to nothing being done. Doesn’t make me or anyone who thinks that a way a hero or a dope. It’s math.
Do what does society do about those who refuse shots/vaccines? We KNOW that the non vaxerd mixing ruleless among the general population is just plain stupid.
Back in the days of leper camps it wasn’t dissimilar. The victims were isolated. Totally isolated. Was it their fault? Of course not. The vast majority knew they shouldn’t mix with the general population and were glad to do what they did based on the math.
This isn’t a fun situation. We see dying anti vaxxers on tv telling other anti vaxxers to get the shot. Non dissimilar to a person being saved by Jesus while being rolled into the gas chamber or its equivalent. Perhaps not dissimilar liar to a death bed confession.
When it comes to mass death personal freedoms must get partially and temporarily suspended due to math. Sure every individual story is sad assuming the? facts are right.
Society must be ruthless ultimately. You know it. .

Being vaccinated has [b]always[/b] been a requirement before certain surgeries, way before Covid 19. MMR, Diphtheria, Hepatitis, Influenza - it's super common.
You're way more vulnerable to disease and viral infection during a surgery, especially a transplant. Your body becomes stressed and the immune response is supressed during an operation, hence the need for extra defence via vaccination.
They probably asked this woman not to drink or smoke either - this isn't a trespass upon her freedoms, it's basic medical practice.
If she's not willing to get the vaccine, fine. But the hospital are well within their rights to offer transplants to patients who are willing to take all necessary precautions to maximise their chances of a successful operation.

The Maine legislature is going to block it and I believe most states (red or blue) will push back.
It’s a waste of government resources and a flagrant violation of search and seizure restrictions.
The courts would likely block it too.

@JoeyFoxx kind of why i started with the disclaimer "slightly off topic..." but thank for pointing out it had nothing to do with vaccines.
As for whether it is legal or will pass or not, this President has already shown he really doesn't care what the law or courts say, if he wants something. He even stated over his illegal rent deferment agenda that he didn't know if it was legal or not, he was just going to do it and let the courts decide.

So it's a Death Penalty now for not taking the Vax in the USA now? Don't even need a Court hearing or a judges decision.. Just some board members of some Uni Hospital can sentence you to death for not being vacced.. Wow.. It's a wonder that board members don't get tracked down by hitmen and wasted these days..

Other vaccinations have always been required before transplants.
People that have unhealthy habits that they wont abandon also get turned down.
Wasting something as extraordinary as an organ on someone that wont do everything possible to prolong their life is unacceptable to the medical community.

I had sad that not all of them have been accepted. I know Pfizer has but only just recently. My point is that people have a right to be apprehensive about taking the vaccine. @mikeylyksit

However,
People can and should be apprehensive about not being vaccinated against Covid 19, also.
There is risk to be taken no matter what you do, or do not do. To do NOTHING is very risky. To get vaccinated is risky...although much less so.
You aren't getting through the pandemic without taking a risk of some kind.
