Can you provide any evidence of man made climate change and then any evidence that the solutions proposed will help eliminate said change. Oh and while you are at it could you define what is the ideal climate we are aiming for? It gets a bit cold here in January can we bump up the temp say 15-20 degrees C? -40 is a bit hard on the bare hands. Thank you and carry on with your insane tribalism and blame game. We are all enjoying it.
@hippyjoe1955 requests evidence. Here ya go sir!!

The global warming / climate change we're seeing in the last 100 or so years is MUCH different from anything measured in the glacial & sea sediment records covering the last 700,000 years. CO2 is rising 100x faster, and temps 10x faster.

"How is Today’s Warming Different from the Past?" https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/GlobalWarming/page3.php
As the Earth moved out of ice ages over the past million years, the global temperature rose a total of 4 to 7 degrees Celsius over about 5,000 years. In the past century alone, the temperature has climbed 0.7 degrees Celsius, roughly ten times faster than the average rate of ice-age-recovery warming.
How is today's CO2 increase different? https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-atmospheric-carbon-dioxide
The annual rate of increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide over the past 60 years is about 100 times faster than previous natural increases, such as those that occurred at the end of the last ice age 11,000-17,000 years ago.
Fact is, anthropogenic global warming is accepted by a YUGE segment of the scientific community. Would you accept the consensus opinion of the American Physical Society AND the American Chemical Society? How about the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and at least 15 other national organizations of publishing scientists? See https://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/

@ElwoodBlues Nice opinion piece you have there. Do you know experts hate to admit they don't know much in their field of 'expertise'? Too funny. If you don't know where you started you have no idea how far you have gone. If at the moment of the big bang there was a higher percentage of 'decayed' radioactive material than we think there was. We have no idea how old any ancient object is. Yes the geologists take their numbers as articles of faith but really can't prove their postulations. Much like Darwinians can't prove abiogenesis. Try as they might.... Some things are simply beyond our ken.
... and @hippyjoe1955 rests his case, content to bask in his own ignorance. Which is fine with me - his ignorance appears quite blissful, and he's entitled to it.

My only objection comes up when he tries to project his own ignorance onto the rest of the world. Nope, that won't do.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues Son the truly ignorant are those who can not admit their ignorance. If you don't know something then time to admit it. We don't know what the original ratio of isotopes were. I am sure we all wish we did and I am sure the big brains are not going to admit they don't. That however is not my fault. That is their hubris. You foolishness is coming from the fact that you slavishly accept their scholarly pronouncements like your life depends on it. Here is a hint. The only thing you lose when you question the 'experts' is your own ignorance. That you don't dare question does not speak well of your intellectual capacity. Your child like acceptance of academic mishmash makes you child like not scientific.

What he said was, "The impacts of climate change don't pick and choose. And that's because it's not a political phenomenon. It's science."

Doesn't sound "nuts" to me. Sounds 100% accurate.
I think what he means is it should not be a partisan issue. Doesn't mean you can expect the other side to be rational grown ups though.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And that from someone who professes a profound admiration in a failed ideology. Amusing
@sunsporter1649 Again that is all you. Your idol is back to pretending to be relevant in Florida and begging his friends for money.

Climate change is not real. Not one bank or insurance company has a rising sea level clause when buying beach front property.
@MrBrownstone WRONG! It's one of those things that insurers classify as "acts of God" and refuse to cover.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Climates change and always have. They have changed long before we crawled from caves and created fire. They will continue to change when our cities are dust. What their politically driven data always ignores is the largest cause of climate change. A power source we have zero control of. I’ll give you a hint: it rises in the east and sets in the west. Climate scientists who are not on the government payroll will tell you that humans have very little impact on climate change and that CO2 levels have risen in the past and did not change planetary temperatures. But they have noticed that climate change does occur cyclically every 12,000 years when our magnetosphere weakens and solar forcing becomes more dramatic. Carbon taxes and electric cars are not the answer. The former is just exploitation and the latter is even more toxic than fossil fueled automobiles. We have much much worse things to worry about as a species. But by all means continue to believe people who lie for a living.
Oberon1 · 61-69, M
@stratosranger "Alarmism" is just another religion and a political means to an end. I completely agree with you. In the 70's an "ice age" was coming. The climate changes. That's what it does. Globalist dipshits exploit anything and everything they can.
@Oberon1 “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

@stratosranger Good ole 'Deadfish'.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Everything was grand until Thomas Newcomen pulled that dastardly trick getting a steam engin to work, never any climate change before that
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 Yeah, as I said BRANCO is an angry dumbass too. You people go together like peas and carrots. You, Branco, Mark Levin and every old angry delusional dumbass out there.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 You telling me the border is closed, crime is down, no inflation, and all American citizens were evacuated before the raghead terrorists took over Afghanistan?

Earth is also getting closer to the sun every year.
If we can change the climate let's do, I hate cold weather.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
The science is observable fact but in America, the right have made the science a partisan issue.

The real debate should be what to do, based on the known facts.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Burnley123
the right have made the science a partisan issue.
Science has made itself a fool when it tried making gold from politics.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Budwick The US fossil fuel industry subsidies the 3% of climate scientists who disagree. They also fund publications, think tanks and youtube channels. This is why the debate even exists.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
It's only actually a Partisan issue in America. In Europe and elsewhere, there are divisions on what to do about the climate change isue but there is gener agreement on the science.

The conspiracy theories and science denialialism is a thing only for the American right. Elsewhere its only a crank fringe.
BigBulge · 41-45, M
The problem with getting any movement to combat climate change is that the average person has no idea what it is.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@BigBulge And since demonocrats are superior beings we should all just fall into the party line?
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
@BigBulge then two thirds are demanding something they don't know about. Wow! Fantastic!

This is about an effort to "red team" the climate change proponents; i.e. create a team of experts with no bias for anthropocentric climate change and no incentive to find it.

The climate skeptic and Stanford physicist Richard Muller was hired by oil billionaire Charles Koch to prove the climatologists wrong. He headed a team of physicists and chemists who built their own climate model from scratch without input from other climate scientists.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/converted-contrarian-argues-humans-to-blame-for-climate-change/
"Three years ago I identified problems in previous climate studies that, in my mind, threw doubt on the very existence of global warming," Muller wrote. "Last year, following an intensive research effort involving a dozen scientists, I concluded that global warming was real and that the prior estimates of the rate of warming were correct. I'm now going a step further: Humans are almost entirely the cause."
Update:
Some folks are suggesting that climate change would be good for some places on earth and bad for others, I have no disagreement. ... But.

When you look at the places that will be harmed by anthropogenic climate change due to sea level rise, you'll notice something. Most of humanity's greatest cities are near sea level. Worldwide, hundreds of trillions of dollars worth of buildings and infrastructure in this nation and almost every other nation on earth are at risk. The simple economic argument - protect our existing investment - is overwhelming.

@ElwoodBlues I know it's not happening, or barry big ears and algore would not have bought waterfront property

It's not like it's a secret that the old fugitive from a nursing home has created an administration that's more like a choose your adventure coloring book than an actual US government.

They're cutting his mic for pete sake.

What a bunch of twats.
“…choose your adventure coloring book” is funny as hell! 😂 @SteelHands

@stratosranger almost as funny as Hunter porning his own niece or Jill being less interesting than an ice cream truck.
