Are you in favor of segregation,? How would you vote if this got on the ballot

If you lived in DC that is, and I don't know who would be allowed to vote. ...
Former At-Large DC Council candidate Addison Sarter is expected to propose a new ballot initiative: the Black Autonomy Act. It would create autonomous African American areas within D.C. with their own mayor and legislatures — including Anacostia, Langdon/Brentwood, Shepherd Park.
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] it is, but I suppose most ask for it.

[@349935,Virgo79] Ethnicities are free to diversify themselves or not to as they please. so why does the government feel the need to intervene in public relations? it's very creepy and holocostish
Virgo79 · 56-60, M
[@25801,DeluxedEdition] well look at our government, 😂
Our leader has a nickname "creepy joe"
Says it all
Virgo79 · 56-60, M
Things seem to be heading that way😕

I don't know the details, but if it's about taking predominantly black communities and giving them autonomy, that sounds like a good idea. If it's some kind of ethnic state, that's dumb, but I doubt it's the latter.
Dolimyte · 36-40, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] no, that's pretty historically American too.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@1999,Dolimyte] So you would vote for it, if you were allowed to vote,?
Dolimyte · 36-40, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] probably.
This guy sounds like a loon, but he says he's not talking about segregation.

FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@1999,Dolimyte] a separate government based solely on the racial makeup of an area sounds kooky to me, should we do that with all races? Ethnicities? Education level? Income?
Dolimyte · 36-40, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] that does sound kooky, but it ignores the context. You're also fooling yourself if you think communities aren't segregated based on income.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@1999,Dolimyte] my town has a wealthy section, but they don't have a separate town council or school board or any other government function, it's all the same.
Mugin16 · 41-45, M
A step in the right direction.
Mugin16 · 41-45, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] I know exactly what I commenting on. I stated my opinion.

Your question "Should...." implied that it was me that should make the decision.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@393432,Mugin16] well you said separating into different countries , that isn't what he is proposing, so I assumed you didn't know what you were commenting on. I apologize.
He is talking about zones within an already existing city with Their own mayor and and government not beholden to the existing government
Mugin16 · 41-45, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] No worries.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
The idea of separating areas based on race sounds at best strange & at worst like we are going backwards. Maybe an experiment of letting this area try it to see if it corrects any issues they feel are caused by allowing multiple races to be in charge, live & work together could help in making a decision longterm.

Not forced, if people want to self-segregate they should have the right to but not force anyone else.
Amazing the responses to this basic post.

Says more to the underlying feelings of some people.

The liberty centric view is ... DC is unicorporated, thus let people govern themselves in whatever manner, while respecting federal regulation.

Yet, this is not what the proposal is about ... it is about "taking" property of others ... criminal, sinister and evil.

No business should operate in DC, with this sort of challenge.

This is identical to the demands in Camden NJ, and then it was burned to the ground ... never to flourish again ... the worse welfare city in America.
[@6757,questionWeaver] August is coming

I sense DC may be burned to the ground ... for restoration purposes

I'd lose a lot of friends. Segregation makes for a small, insulated world.

The Congress shall have power to dispose of and make all needful rules and regulations respecting the territory or other property belonging to the United States.
