19-Year Old Interns Alleges She Was Raped by Idaho Legislator, Whose Pals in the Capitol Then Launch a Smear Campaign Against the Young Woman.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The harassment began soon after a report by a 19-year-old intern, who alleged an Idaho lawmaker raped her, became public.

One state representative sought a copy of the police report and made inquiries into how the young woman herself could be referred for criminal charges for reporting the alleged rape.

Another shared links to a far-right blog post that included the intern’s name, photo and personal details about her life with thousands of people in a newsletter and on social media.

And members of a far-right, anti-government activist group tried to follow and harass the young woman after she was called to testify in a legislative public ethics hearing.

Rep. Priscilla Giddings, a Republican from the tiny community of White Bird, shared the link with victims’s name and photo in a newsletter to constituents and said the allegations were nothing more than a “liberal smear job.”

She also shared the blog post with thousands of followers on social media, making the intern’s identity widely known. Giddings has not responded to repeated requests for comment from the AP.

Rep. Heather Scott, a Republican from the community of Blanchard, filed a public record request with the city of Boise seeking a copy of the young woman’s police report.

Rep. Priscilla Giddings, R-White Bird, had a homeowner’s exemption on a house she owns in Garden City from 2010 to 2016, according to Ada County records. She was elected to the House in November of 2016, and state law requires a candidate for the House to have “resided within the legislative district for one year” prior to the general election.

Giddings maintains that she actually moved to Idaho County “prior to Nov. 7, 2015” and lived there on the piece of property where she was personally building her new home. But she still had the homeowner’s exemption in Ada County both in 2015 and in 2016.
Rep. Heather Scott opened the legislative session in January by declaring, “The pandemic is over.” She said Idaho’s 1,600-plus COVID-19 deaths at that time amounted to “nowhere close to a pandemic.”

With over 500,000 Americans dead from something "nowhere close to a pandemic" one shudders to think how many Americans would need to die for Scott to consider it a pandemic.

A year ago, Tea Partier Scott compared the coronavirus shutdown to the Holocaust: "Hitler used essential and nonessential Jewish workers and if you were nonessential, you were put on the bus or the train."

She also called Idaho's governor a "little Hitler." But, she probably really meant that as a compliment.

And we have the temerity to criticize and dictate other countries for their inequality and treatment of women. Any nation where, for every 1000 sexual assaults:
230 are reported to the police,
46 of those reports lead to arrest,
5 lead to felony conviction,
and 4.6 of those convicted will see jail time,
has little room to play the Ethical Leader Of the World.
