Confederate heritage month ????

monte3 · 70-79, M
👍. Go to Gettysburg, holy ground. You can stand on the exact spot where he fought and imagine what it must have felt l8ke to see charge come towards you, and what I felt
Ike to be in the charge.

@windinhishair It’s a drive to south Georgia...there isn’t much to see on the way there

@SW-User One of my clients is in Georgia, so perhaps I can take some time off to visit when I'm in state. I find it very beneficial to visit these areas to get a feel for what it might have been like to have been there when something historical happened.

@windinhishair i haven’t visited the location ...the union equivalent is Camp Douglas in Chicago...

Amazing thing is, it's a real thing. From Wikipedia and supported sources:
Confederate History Month is a month designated by seven state governments in the Southern United States for the purpose of recognizing and honoring the history of the Confederate States of America. The designation of a month as Confederate History Month began in 1994.

Although Confederate Memorial Day is a holiday in most Southern states, the tradition of having a Confederate History Month is not uniform. State governments that have regularly declared Confederate History Month are as follows:

Alabama
Florida (since 2007)
Georgia (by proclamation since 1995,[2] by legislative authority since 2009)
Louisiana
Mississippi
Texas[2] (since 1999)
Virginia (1994–2002, 2010)
Deep heritage from the four years it existed.

@SW-User Still going strong in 7 states.
summersong · F
Wtf is confederate heritage? Not really something to brag about...
summersong · F
@Bad4U that’s so weird to me. I grew up in Virginia so it’s everywhere down there but I always expect it to be more civilized up here in the northeast.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@summersong Yea. But it exists. Civil War role-playing recreations all over the place!

This guy is totally making fun of confederate heritage month.
@JaggedLittlePill Battle re-creations are one thing, but celebrating traitors...
SW-User
he was a union officer..
to me it reads like a joke on those who celebrate the confederacy

Sad how some folks online try to justify and normalize their racism while condoning these "holidays".
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Sounds like he did his job

This is making fun of confederate heritage month.

Pink mist is the worst mist. Good job Alonzo
chrisCA · M
@Dolimyte I don't believe killing, even in warfare, should be spoken about in a trivial manner.

Look at the source, "boomer bear" 🤷‍♀️

Also...I went to that man's page and there is some excellent stuff there...

This thread is excellent.

@windinhishair no this guy was a union hero. Amazing story.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@monte3 Thanks. I misread it. I was thinking of my time in Texas and how every year, Confederate Heroes Day was a state holiday.
