Do you think the Press is covering VP Harris like she is President Harris?

It seems to be a totally different coverage than past Vice Presidents.

Past VP's were an afterthought, or not covered as much.

She is definitely no Pence. She is incredibly accomplished, capable and intelligent.
An excellent candidate for President after Joe finishes his two terms!

Not sure what you're watching, but CNN has mentioned her maybe twice in the last 10 days, and then when she's standing at the president's side. But expect her to get more coverage; she's fun, wickedly intelligent, animated and approachable.

The former holder of the office was Elmer's paste.

[@157515,FreeSpirit1] I don't see it as fawning. This is who she's always been. You can't help having a better personality than the last guy.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@627992,Graylight] People who liked Trump didnt think some press fawned over him, People who like Harris dont think some press fawn over her. That's my opinion anyway. My point is it's usually the President THEY like who get the fawning, not the VP.
Graylight · 46-50, F
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] Yup, I agree. No one's ever going to treat your personal favorite quite as good as you wish they would, regardless of what platforms you support.
it is weird how the press has been for the last 6 years or so, its gone completely political when it should be unbias. ive read they even went back and deleted comments they made about harris in the past and deleted a past story on her about a jail incident, its like they are purposely trying to make her better personality wise by removing all the bad things that have occurred over the years. its like rewritting history and she isnt even president.

It only seems that way, because Pence's only moment of glory was that fly on his head.

Biden received plenty of coverage when he was VP.
QuixoticSoul · 36-40, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] A lady magazine making a fuss over the first woman vp? I am shocked and amazed.

[@580625,QuixoticSoul] 🤣
Carla · 61-69, F
[@580625,QuixoticSoul] right? She is the first female vp. Ffs.
It would be out of the ordinary if she wasn't getting this attention.
I'm not following it closely but it's kinda been my impression that Harris is expected to be president before Biden's full term is up.
QuixoticSoul · 36-40, M
I haven't read a single thing about Harris, so pretty sure they're covering her exactly the same way.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@580625,QuixoticSoul] Just because you haven't read a single thing about Harris doesn't mean she isn't being covered.

Most of the press isn't really press - they are just cheerleaders for the Democrats.
Graylight · 46-50, F
[@698333,graphite] Some networks are. Others, not. All are equally stupid these days.

“A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab?” she said (of M. Obama). “The gesture everyone seems to interpret differently.”
FOX anchor quote

“For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white. But this person is maybe just arguing that we should also have a black Santa. But, you know, Santa is what he is, and just so you know, we’re just debating this because someone wrote about it, kids.”
FOX host Megyn Kelly explaining that Santa is white

"Halloween is a liberal holiday because we're teaching our children to beg for something for free. … We're teaching kids to knock on other people's doors and ask for a handout."
Hannity on Halloween

Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly, in 2011, tried to downplay the impact of pepper spray on student Occupy protesters at UC Davis:
O’Reilly: "First of all, pepper spray—that just burns your eyes, right?"
Kelly: "It’s like a derivative of actual pepper. It’s a food product, essentially."
(Which is what everyone at the Capitol is crying and whining about now.)

Honest it seems like normal early new elected VP coverage from what I've seen so far, but I'm not watching closely.

They get covered more early on after getting into the role.

Though I do think the less well known people might get covered more, as I think we knew more about Biden and Pence before they entered as VPs. And women in general get covered a bit more it seems, but that seems to be non-politial as it happens it most non-sports things.
Not really. Most of the assumptions during the Bush jr. era was that his administration including Dick Cheney were the real power and he was just the idiot fall guy.
Past vice presidents have been nearly invisible. It's almost like the press is grooming us for something. Gee, I wonder what that could be.
Poppies · 61-69, F
The fact that she is the first woman VP is enough to get her more coverage.
FreeSpirit1 · 46-50, F
[@557324,Poppies] It's not just the amount of coverage, it's how they cover her.
I don't remember Joe Biden getting write ups and photo shoots in major magazines...it seems more like they are fans and not journalists.
HatterM · 46-50, M
Haven't heard a word about her in UK though getting lots about Biden.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Dick Cheney was covered as if he were president.
[@372263,Harmonium1923]

The only difference is, they covered him as being Satan.
Virgo79 · 56-60, M
She soon will be I'm guessing.
