That's just people being people and the truth is that as long as its not detrimental to somebody's healthy, or anyone else's, then a persons lust for possessions is good for the economy. As long as they don't do anything stupid like borrow WAY more money than they could ever pay back.

@Zonuss if I have more food than you my chances of survival increase and opportunities to mate go up as well. If I have a better weapon I can prevent you from taking my food or my choices of mate.
