that's contradictory, i heard they have a good sense of humor
SW-User
@SW-User You would have to.
pentacorn · F
i have wondered this too!

they can really have him, if they want. i’d be ever so grateful to hand him over.
SW-User
@pentacorn I agree! Take him! Make him your God.
pentacorn · F
@SW-User i’d rather visit New Zealand anyway 😉
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
Trump news is world news i guess.
SW-User
@Bagalamaga Me too. It's a complete racket.
Fernie · F
@Bagalamaga does that mean you don't vote?
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
@Fernie no. I don’t gamble if there’s no prize

@SW-User Yuck
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Like American TrumpLovers, they must believe him. Maybe that's what they see on TV.
SW-User
@hunkalove Funny thing is, I've just NEVER seen him as convincing.
SW-User
The irony is that his Australian supporters on here tend to defend him better than a lot of his US supporters here who often just resort to name calling and red herrings.@hunkalove
SW-User
@SW-User Ironic indeed.
Because our government is chock full of socialists and UN stooges..
pentacorn · F
@basilfawlty89 a little bit of history repeating with that one, it seems.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Lol? People from your country seem to have an opinion on every other country (and your leadership tries to invade them). Public forum, my right to say wtf I want. Don't like it, mute me, snowflake.

I don't just on anyone who likes Trump, I'll call out anyone talking shite. You talk shite, so I'll call you out.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Australia has a Conservative government. Americans might get confused if you tell them that they are called the Liberal Party but they are centre right and Labor is centre left.

Aussie socialists I know say they wish they had a Jeremy Corbyn because they think that their version of Labour is too right wing and pro capitalist.
homespun2 · 70-79, M
GUESS THEY GET ALL OF THE FALSE NEWS.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
They are? That is news to me.

Well, the owner of Fox News is from there, so maybe he spreads propaganda there.
VictoryOrValhalla · 26-30, M
Pulling out of 2 countries to have them deal with their own crap is bad

Influencing the end of at 60 year armitisice is bad

Hardballing the counter economical hierarchy is bad

Stimulating economic growth in the lower and middle class is bad

Decreasing income tax amongst the working class is bad
SW-User
@VictoryOrValhalla What does this have to do with loving Trump?
Northwest · M
@VictoryOrValhalla Do you mind explaining this?
SW-User
Australia must somehow benefit from a US-China trade war or have some vested interest in the US-Mexico border that isn’t obvious to the rest of us.
SW-User
@SW-User I can't help but wonder.
SW-User
SW-User
I wondered that too ,seems strange to me
SW-User
@SW-User It's kinda weird.
I wondered the same thing 🧐
Trump speaks to the racists there just as he does to the ones in our country. It wasn’t that long ago that Australia had a “whites only” immigration policy. That, in spite of having been founded by Europeans taking over a country originally peopled by Aborigines of color. Same as the U.S.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Makes sense now.

Gusman · 61-69, M
As an Australian I have watched the USA go backwards in world standings over previous decades because of the Self Serving Establishment.
Almost a third of the population is living at or near poverty. Mr Trump has not caused that.
Mr Trump has come in and upset that apple cart.
The point must be made here. In no way am I maligning US citizens.
@Gusman Upset the apple cart and destroyed the apples in the process.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I assume because they don't have to live under his wannabe dictatorship or actually deal with his policies. On the other hand, Australia does have a reputation for right wing, racist politics, oppression of aborigines, etc., so the Trump ethos might fit right in down there.
Fuck you clown .. racist bullshit.. go fuck your dumbass Ernie.. @ChipmunkErnie
Northwest · M
Because they can sort of cheer from a distance, and don't need to suffer the consequences?

Kind of like cheering for Tony Soprano, because he's on TV, but who would want a mobster for a best friend?
SW-User
White loyalists/nationalists can be found in many countries.
SW-User
That’s because we have clowns running our country and the joke of it gets old so we need something else to talk about.
SW-User
Pure ignorance imo. These Australians should be grateful they don’t have to deal with a terrible president.
swirlie · 31-35, F
How would you know that to be true about Australians?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
I'm a Brit and this surprises me too. I have met plenty of Aussie but I'm only semi familiar with their political culture.

Maybe the culture war is big in Australia too but their conventional politics stays clear of that? Australia is very very anti immigration and does have a lot of racist attitudes.

Maybe there is also something about the competitive and macho nature of Aussie culture which breeds alienated outsiders who have resentment but still have a sense of entitlement, like the alt right?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
I’m in Australia right now. So far, literally everyone has laughed at me because we elected a muppet.

Basically, SW is full of kooks, and you shouldn’t extrapolate.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Sorry??? Trump is a very bad joke here and the few politicians who have tried to follow his example are suffering terribly in the polls.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
Because the average Australian is just as stupid , racist , mysogynistic and xenophobic as those uneducated dolts in the US who propelled that aberration into the White House.

Happy New Year btw.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Shaneishere What the darn-diddily-doodily did you just say about me, you little witcharooney? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at Springfield Bible College, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret mission trips in Capital City, and I have over 300 confirmed baptisms. I am trained in the Old Testament and I’m the top converter in the entire church mission group. You are nothing to me but just another heathen. I will cast your sins out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in Heaven, mark my diddily-iddilly words. You think you can get away with saying that blasphemy to me over the Internet? Think again, friendarino. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of evangelists across Springfield and your IP is being traced by God right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggorino. The storm that wipes out the diddily little thing you call your life of sin. You’re going to Church, kiddily-widdily. Jesus can be anywhere, anytime, and he can turn you to the Gospel in over infinity ways, and that’s just with his bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in preaching to nonbelievers, but I have access to the entire dang- diddily Bible collection of the Springfield Bible College and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your sins away off the face of the continent, you diddily-doo satan-worshipper. If only you could have known what holy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you from the Heavens, maybe you would have held your darn-diddily-fundgearoo tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re clean of all your sins, you widdillo-skiddily neighborino. I will sing hymns of praise all over you and you will drown in the love of Christ. You’re farn-foodily- flank-fiddily reborn, kiddo-diddily.
SW-User
Loool you didn’t write that 😬@QuixoticSoul
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@SW-User What outcry have you uttered about my person, you oafish brute? I shall cordially remind you that I was the best scholar in my law class in Oxford, and I have been involved in several frivolous tea parties and courtroom disputes, and I have over 300 boxes of Earl Gray. I am proficient in the Simian school of diplomacy and I am the top linguist in my book club. Know that you resemble nothing in my eyes save for yet another uncultured mind. I will hasten your undisputed expiration from the world with grace and finesse. The thought that you can retreat after jesting of such matters over the internet is laughable. As of this moment, I am telephoning a mutual friend to negotiate a swift and sure rebuttal to your argument so I would implore you to prepare yourself for the upcoming verbal deluge. The deluge that will no doubt saturate your life with discomfort. You are well and truly wrong, my good sir. My abilities of travel are unmatched, and I can recite over 700 lines from Shakespeare, and that is just from Hamlet. The amount of knowledge that I have accrued is vast, and I shall use it to firmly state my authority on such matters, you rapscallion. Truly, I wish you had some semblance of knowledge on the matter you have brought up and its repercussions. Alas, you did not, and now you will suffer a fate most dire, you plebeian. I shall defecate concentrated dislike upon you and you shall struggle to survive in its waters. Pistols at dawn, old boy.
lorne13 · 61-69, M
because they are far away, they don't have to deal with all the damage he has done
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@lorne13 At one level you are correct. But very distance has made us vulnerable to small shifts in policy, being a close neighbour to a quarter of a BILLION Muslims in Indonesia. So foreign policy blow back can come hard. And the racist, and anti reasoned speech that has emerged during the Trump Campaign and Presidency has emboldened a bunch of throwers of hate speech here. More is the pity.
lorne13 · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman hate speech spreads like a disease, in Canada too, luckily the ignorance that goes with it shows clearly. Sorry to hear that Australia is not far enough away
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@lorne13 And I feel your pain, being way too close.
Fernie · F
It's probably the heat and gargantuan bugs down there...I know I couldn't think straight
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Fernie Yes. New years morning as the sun comes up. (dont you hate that hot sun?) And I sit here in my shorts and Tee shirt, wondering if I should turn the fan on yet. If the shops were open I might right my pet Cicada up the street for a iced coffee😉
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
After the requisite liter of pre-flight beer I’m about to depart this beautiful country. Love you aussies. Even the magacels among you.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul Enjoy your flight. Sorry about the destination. 😉
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul I have a couple of Friends retired up around Noosa and its beautiful weather. But getting a little "civilised" for my tastes now. Too much Hi Rise. . My Personal Favourite is Port Douglas, just north of Cairns.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Oh yeah - I was in Port Douglas last year, what a gem.
