A lot of people talk about hanging all pedophiles and it's a hashtag. Obviously there's a reasonable explanation for why people feel so strongly. But what my question is is about is the pedophile who is attracted 2 underage persons but hasn't been caught or convicted. Perhaps there are people who can live like this and never break the law. But what are the chances that some sort of pornography or some kind of activity happens in their lifetime? Id think it likely. I don't know enough about what the future holds or how many people live like that and never do anything wrong. But my poll is what would you have done if anything to these people if you had ultimate control and there would be no backlash from your decision? If you answer 4 hanging them I list that as the death penalty option as it seems most appropriate. If you wouldn't care list in the comments why they would deserve the punishment. I suppose there wouldn't have to be reason but it would be wrong to not explain why they deserve the punishment. For example I have an explanation for it but I'm not going to to go into that here. I try to be objective as possible when dealing with anything

I was under the impression that the justice system punishes crimes, not intentions.

Not to play the devil's advocate here, but what you're suggesting might create a dangerous precedent. Wait until something you say will flag you as "someone with potentially dangerous political ideas" and gets you executed.

I would suggest a psych evaluation done often, not letting them work with/around children, signing them up for a program where they get help and checking up on them on a regular basis. I don't think punishment works as prevention. I'm no law expert but as a general rule I believe in correction and not violence.

The real question here is how could you identify them without an offense?

If their moral compass leads them
to come forward and confess the nature of their attraction, then therapy is definitely necessary as well as prophylactic measures to restrict/prevent contact with children and ensure they won't act on that perversion.

It's pretty tricky & complicated. A pedophile is not always a child molester. However, a child molester is always a pedophile. It's not fair to punish individuals who have never committed any crimes or acted on their sick fantasies.

Otherwise if they lost the battle against those impulses and harmed a child, then the situation changes drastically. I'd go for the most painful punishment in said judicial system.

@Graylight

I disagree.

Sex is their weapon, but in that instance, children are their target.

When you have a gun (weapon) you got to aim it somewhere (target). Or when you have a pen (weapon) you may write on paper or walls or whatever (target).

The fact that those psychopaths seek children as sexual partners/preys and can see them in that light, means that they are pedophiles. It should not be treated lightly. Regardless of the motive.

Children may not be their one or only target i.e they could target adults too. Hence the term non-exclusive pedophile.

In a similar fashion – if they go after animals to control, using sex, then they are zoophiles. If they target humans too, then they are non-exclusive zoophiles.

The motive doesn't change a thing, as long as they choose to use sex to express it, when they could've opted for something else.

@Spica Pedophiles and violent rapists bear almost no comparison either way. Rapists can be incidental pedophiles and some pedophiles rape others, but neither is dependent on the other and rarely are they seen together.

I genuinely think, and there's a fair bit of convincing research into this, that these people can't help their attraction. This is abnormality that's wired into them, and there's not really a way to fix that wiring.

I need to make it clear that I would never condone any physical relationship between a child and an adult, but I just don't think there's an actionable option here. Are we now a society that polices people's thoughts? How do even get to determine what another person is feeling in the first place to judge what the consequences should be?

Any pre-emptively punitive measures will just incentive lying, or worse, and not lead to any lasting solutions. The only way to combat the problem starts by first acknowledging the problem, and pedos will have to step out of the shadows for that.

Maybe with advances in therapy or medication or genetics or neurological research, there could one day be a lasting cure. But it's an issue that's so stigmatized that finding willing test subjects is hard, and makes a solution that much harder to find.

It's interesting. If someone has a seizure disorder that results in damage to property, embarrassment, use of 911 services and so on, we consider them brave strugglers against such a disruptive illness. But though pedophilia is listed as a mental health disorder and considered such by both the APA and AMA, we continue to discuss it through a moral lens. There's estimated to be a 25-50% recidivism rate, but zero discussion on how to help the half that re-offend.

Either way, there are options far short of murder to keep potential victims from harm.

You do get so called virtuous pedophiles that, while attracted to children, refuse to engage in child abuse. It's still fucked up they're attracted to children and I think they should be kept away from kids, but if they haven't harmed anyone and actively try not to, I don't think it's fair sentence them to prison or the death penalty (which I'm anyway against. That said they do need to check in with a psychologist.

Nothing at all. I truly think we need to have some serious age of consent reform. We all mature different and have different attractions. That’s all it really is. An attraction. Which equates to a lot of undeserved hate.
Synyster · 51-55, M
I'd watch them burn alive.

@TitusT11

You just relish messaging people with details of such offenses and this isn't your first account. Probably recounting inflicting abuse serves the same purpose for you as the abuse itself. Power and control.

There is nothing you can tell me in private which you can't say right here in public. As to honestly, honest people don't need hide in PMs
TitusT11 · 46-50, M
@Miram I can understand why you would feel that way. Absolutely can. But I want you to think about this. If you're right about that the end result would be that much more desirable. But if you're wrong and I'm being genuine then accounts are going to be settled. But if you he'll that messaging with me is some kind of major Plus on my part you're only doing me a favor. And I don't think you AR in the mindset that I'm owed many of those. I respect you for calling things the way they are because you're right about a lot of things you've said. But you're not don't know the complete and total situation. And I wanted to share that with you and was willing to share information in return that would give you a chance to be in a moral position where things went the way they should for everybody involved according to their actions. And if I'm just being more deviant then you're only preventing that from happening when it needs to happen even more. That's all I'm going to say you can tell me how horrible I am. You have a very good point about that. I'm trying to do better but maybe I don't even deserve a chance to do better. That's probably how you feel. That hurts me more than anything. The thought that you would literally wish to see me hanged if it were in your power to. I havent molested anyone!
TitusT11 · 46-50, M
@TitusT11 you know what agreed and tried with you to be civil. Even offered more than that. You don't care about the children. You care about being a jerk to people because you don't like people. I think yours is more of a personal problem. Perhaps you should look inside rather than always looking out side that other people. I'm sure you just lovely to be around. Go ahead and report me again coward
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I think they should go to jail. If you are a pedophile then typically you are engaging in illegal activities like viewing explicit pictures of children or engaging with children online. That leads to hands on behaviour which will profoundly affect the victim of sexual abuse. It is life changing.

There is no excuse or pass for pedophilia.

@AJS30 ❤️
@AJS30 Not so long ago, homosexuals were judged the same way. Today, some still assume having black skin predisposes one to crime. Society is full of judgment, viciousness, and violence towards "the other" and this is unlikely to change.
