In America, if you're 18, you can't buy alcohol, right? HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BUY AN ASSAULT RIFLE?!?!?!

Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yup - confine mentally ill.

@Budwick Well, there's no point going on about it. You are not prepared to countenance any restrictions on gun ownership whatsoever and are happy to pin the blame anywhere else except on the fact that there are more guns than people in America.
I wish you good luck, and hope that your grandchildren, should you have any, stay safe :)

There is no differentiation between long guns in the law. If you are 18 years of age in many states you are legally allowed to buy or own a long gun. Obviously it's intended use, by law, is for hunting. Many families are so poor they rely on hunting deer, or even rabbits for food.

If you look at an AR 15, it looks pretty scary, right? But that scary sh!t is ALL cosmetic. It was deliberately added to a plain semi-automatic long gun to make it look more macho and more appealing to men.

You can CALL an AR15 an assault rifle, (inaccurately), but it is a SEMI-automatic rifle. Assault weapons are fully automatic. Fully automatic weapons are weapons of war.

You should not join the ranks of those who are completely ignorant about these weapons.

There is also a long gun available called the bolt action long gun. All rounds have to be loaded and ejected manually, one by one, which does seem sufficient for hunting, to me, BUT... a semi-automatic is good for someone who is a lousy shot.

I know you are upset about Uvalde, and other school shootings. I am, too.

No constitutional amendments about alcohol is why! 😞

Also why it varies by state. Here it's 21! Other states it's 18. Just like marriage age varies by states. No constitutional amendments.

@DeWayfarer Yep, back in the day when I was 18, we use to drive to Wyoming to go drink hard alcohol at the bars...........
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt both in and around San Antonio.

I was the last day worker in the Schertz CAT plant. Everyone else was just "let go" because they refuse to work without a lanyard.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@DeWayfarer I visited there last summer for the first time . Did 2 days at schlitterbahn in neu braufels too.
I don’t know of any other state with that type of state pride .
Tell a NYer NY sucks and they’re like “yea whatever “ .
Tell a Texan that and be prepared to throw down. Lol

🤔.......You can join the Military at 17/18 and go kill people in WAR but you can't drink until your 21....WTF
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Jimmy2016 you can also get an abortion without even notifying your parents at like 15. Which is the way it should be , right ?
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Problem number 1.
Age should be increased to 25

Unless they are in active duty in the military…then I think they are able to have a firearm at 18.
SW-User
Many states it’s 21
Yet you can join the military and be in combat at 18

Pretty stupid logic really

Guns and alcohol don't mix
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Well here in Canada at 18 you can buy both. Not sure what your point is. An adult is an adult. Where I come from you can drive a car on the highway at 14 and do it alone when you are 16. Doesn't that seem odd to you?
SW-User
@hippyjoe1955 I find it odd that in my country you can have sex at 16, but not watch people do it until you're 18. It still seems preposterous that you can buy a gun at 18.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SW-User I started shooting a rifle when I was about 8. No big deal. I was hunting gophers (ground squirrels. My grandmother was a crack shot and trained me well. Always look down range so you don't hit something you don't want to should you miss. Never carry a rifle with a round in the chamber. Never carry a rifle with the bolt closed. Never point the gun at anything you don't want to hit. In the ensuing 60 years I have never shot anyone. I killed lots of gophers a few skunks an occasional coyote a bear or two some deer some geese some ducks and did I mention that I used to shoot competitively. I won a lot of prizes with my marksmanship. Guns are not to be feared they are to be used responsibly.
The same way you can join the military and go to war, I guess.
It makes no sense to me, either. 😞

You pay for it.
