What's the penalty for driving an uninsured vehicle where you live?

Where I live, it's a $300 fine, which I learned the hard way a couple of years ago. One of the dumbest things that I ever did.

I'm in the UK and it's £300 and 6 points on your licence. The police may also seize your car and crush it. If case goes to court there's unlimited fine and you can be disqualified from driving

They make you crawl around nekked with an exhaust pipe in your butt.
Probably could be sued civilly.

About £300, I think.

While driving without insurance in California has less severe penalties than it does in other states, it’s still illegal unless you're planning to self-insure.

If you're caught, you will be fined anywhere from $100 to $200 for a first offense and between $200 and $500 for a second offense.

If you're responsible for an accident, you will have to pay all costs involved; this can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars.
