I Write Poetry

NEW YEARS

The year is coming to a close,
We will put it to a restful sleep.
Then we will make resolutions for the year ahead,
But none that we will keep.

It is human nature to reflect on life,
As one year fades away;
To think that we will change our path,
Just because it’s New Years Day.

Sometimes we try so very hard,
As we attempt to change the game,
But we just stay on the path we tread,
And our life remains the same.

So tonight we will celebrate,
With merriment and cheer,
But tomorrow we will start anew,
As we repeat another year.
