Dreams That Die

her dreams were simple
her dreams were unobtainable
though once she chased them
what happened to change this
come sit by me so I may tell you
it started in small ways
she misplaced her keys
she forgot to do things
she forgot the words for things
she felt disorganized
she felt lost then she literally was
her doctor diagnosed her quickly
he said get your affairs in order
her spouse said all the right words
her adult children supported her
in the end her bucket list nearly done
she was put into a caring nursing home
her dreams never to come true
some days she knows he loves her
other days she cries and feels unsafe
a good life with her man and her family
began her dream come true
now her dreams have disappeared
faded just like she did
mind you follow your dreams
while you still can...
