The Aftermath
Now I climb to the nearest mountain top,
Ashes below, puffs of trash and dust.
A still quiet overlook,
Rescued from a babbling brook.
Stealing sufficient sunlight,
Soaked up in my rattly skin.
A fierce reptile ready to hunt,
Any drop of life I dare to win.
Do not bask in sorrow and pain,
Allow it to poison your heart,
Consume your days:
For if you do not want to rise and overcome,
You may settle in ash,
Within the deepest pits of human scum.
Ashes below, puffs of trash and dust.
A still quiet overlook,
Rescued from a babbling brook.
Stealing sufficient sunlight,
Soaked up in my rattly skin.
A fierce reptile ready to hunt,
Any drop of life I dare to win.
Do not bask in sorrow and pain,
Allow it to poison your heart,
Consume your days:
For if you do not want to rise and overcome,
You may settle in ash,
Within the deepest pits of human scum.
