For me that often happened if there was a draft or cold air (not sure which) on it while sleeping. Eventually I figured to always keep it covered, like with a turtle neck or even some handkerchief. 😐

@PetalsOfLilac neck pain can be mixed up with headaches. I've seen that before. However, you should try and massage your neck, I do that by rubbing my back sideways against a doorframe. And you should maybe see if your pillow is still recommendable to sleep on.

Stretch it gently and use slight resistance against. That usually helps me.
