It's hard.
That looks awfully cozy but I'd rather go on the road in a travel trailer. Gotta have AC. 😂

@V00doo Lorry? 🤔🤭
CestManan · 46-50, F
What if the damned thing broke down somewhere stupid like the middle of Kansas?
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
No. I get motion sickness
doing it ... sorta.
Champaign off grid. i steal my dads power and water :)

money saving is unbelievable..
@cherokeepatti for the first time in like 7 years. i got cash in the bank at the end of the month.

avoid australia folks. the taxes will kill ya!.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout the system is rigged against us here in this city. They limit how long an RV can be parked in a neighborhood on someones’s private property and occupied. Like two weeks for a visitor. I guess if you had a camper van that could fit in the garage of your home and could close the garage door it wouldn’t be anyone’s damned business so could fly under the radar. Rents are damn high compared to what most people can make in wages. Two of my neighbors have brought in very large sheds the size of tiny homes and one of those two also put up a large cabin tent with screens on the windows if you want it to be airy. I think the couple’s son is living there. Can’t blame them for doing that, maybe he’ll be in the shed come cold weather.
@cherokeepatti oh theres lots of regulations and rules.
luckily its in the middle of nowhere and nobody has cared enough to come try move me on..
i gotta build an annex on wheels. because you cant have a stationary structure without council approval..
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If I had a van and couldn’t afford to rent I’d do it.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Only if I had no other option.
For awhile to travel non-stop, sure.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
No. I lived in a tiny 1950s trailer for three years! That was enough for me.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Yes, for a while; until I found that ideal place to park it. Unfortunately some places may not welcome a permanently parked van, but you could probably get by with it until someone called the cops. But again, if non threatening and nice about it they'd probably hesitate to call the cops.
It is tempting at times. I think a houseboat would be more my thing if I went mobile.

Have thought about building a cabin out in the bush before though.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i would love to have a van for van life.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti me too. i have been watching youtube videos to design mine. they cost a lot-over 60,000
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart Would need to win a lottery to get one of those.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti or do a lot of the work yourself. the van itself is pricey. i have been watching Vango on tv too
Indy74 · 46-50, F
No, too close for comfort for me.
Yes if I could afford it
Ontheroad · M
Not past my 20's I wouldn't. I learned long ago to not practice at being uncomfortable/miserable. A motor home would be a whole different story, as would a camping trailer.
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
When I carnt pay my rent yes
Degbeme · 70-79, M
A weekend at a time was enough.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
No, I enjoy my home too much.
LadyJ · F
I'd love it
@LadyJ hmmm🤔 do you like to snuggle? We could work something out..😳😁
@NightsWatch sooooo thats a maybe ? 😁
Coppercoil · M
I've done it. Harder than it looks.. but I learned a lot about my personal needs and the cruelty of society. If I did it again I would do it in a more intelligent way with a lot of lessons learned the hard way behind me. But yeah, I'd give it another go under the right circumstances.

@SW-User Me neither!
OhIsMe · 36-40, M
This is much better than the van I was imagining when I opened this post! 😅
They all renovate them like this now, it’s a huge movement @OhIsMe
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@sirenofthesea Just like in the seventies.

Being homeless is a nightmare.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
I definitely could. I've been homeless a few times and spent time living in my car. A van would've been so much nicer.

All I really need is my dogs and a quiet place to think. I could get all that and more living in van, and I could take it anywhere I wanted to go
KatyO83 · 36-40, F
I did for a few months back in the mad days just after I left my controlling ex. However in winter and when it is wet it's awful. Plus the no fixed abode thing became a nightmare too getting benefits / jobs / bank account etc

Mine was just a van with an old mattress too nothing glamorous like that. 🤣🤣
@KatyO83 Been there, i cannot go back to it again.
KatyO83 · 36-40, F
@TallMtnMedic not on my bucket list
@KatyO83 Same, no matter how nice the van is.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
Never say never. But feels very unsafe and bad for the psychy
