Nice photos. BTW the guy the Red Baron was chasing when he was shot down was a young Canadian named Wop May. Wop May once rescued my aunts kitten from a tree in Calgary AB. He lived next door to my aunt.
@hippyjoe1955 Thanks so much, appreciated. That's really interesting, I always enjoy reading or hearing about all those fascinating stories about history.

@sensualbeauty1 We are told about a heroic flight Wop May made to a very isolated native community in the far north of Alberta. It was 40 below and the airplane was open cockpit and he had to take a dr. with him to treat the ailment that was devastating the community. A number of years ago I was in the community and saw a plaque on the wall telling the story. On the bottom of the plaque there were the names of the two men who had dogsledded 10 days down the river to the nearest telegraph to let the world know there was an illness killing people. Ten DAYS! -40 C. Yes Wop was a great aviator but 10 days by dogsled? WOW!
Nice place. I looked at moving to Carleton Place but found Almonte more affordable
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Thanks so much, both towns are beautiful and have some very interesting history.

I would have never guessed that was on the Mississippi River! I grew up in southeast Iowa, in a town right on the Mississippi River. Such a difference from American architecture.

Edit: I looked it up; I didn't realize there was a different Mississippi River in Canada.

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Yes, I understand now.
@Byron8by7 It's a fairly large tributary of water, definitely not as big as the great Mississippi in the US. I've posted pics of it in the past and some individuals from America were surprised we had our own one here in Canada.

@sensualbeauty1 I have learned something new in geography. Thanks for posting.
