I love it when catastrophic situations pass….

My man’s laptop screen turned black the night before a major presentation at work. He’d been working on that project for months. Thing is, he’s had the laptop for FOUR years. Why did that damn thing decide to go nuts on that very important day? He almost had a panic attack. Luckily I found someone who could fix it in 2 hours. Now whenever I look at his laptop I can’t stop crying…with laughter
Same thing happened to my university thesis, which resulted in me not graduating that year.
The laptop was thrown in a dumpster as an act of revenge.

@truegen
That's why I never store photos in my laptop. Very poor place to store stuff that's of any value to me.
@Nunki Everything's all right now 😘
@swirlie Yeah, now I save 3-4 copies of anything remotely important.

I am paranoid, so each time I make changes to a file I copy a backup to a server.
Nunki · 31-35, F
Yeah that’s super necessary. He’s learned his lesson @JoyfulSilence

Look up Dropbox, or Google Drive, or One Drive.
Nunki · 31-35, F
Or iCloud. He has a Macbook. Told him he should’ve backed up everything 🤷🏽‍♀️ lol @Northwest

@Nunki I have 3 MacBook Pros, IPhone and Apple Watch. I still use Dropbox because it’s more evolved than. iCloud.

Well that is one that he owes you. I do hope he can join in the laughter with you.

@Nunki 😆was a little cruel lol

Haha can’t help it. It’s become a funny memory now @smiler2012

The problem with using iCloud for storage solutions is that all your data remains in cyberspace permanently and can be accessed by the authorities or by hackers many years from now.

The only true way to back up data is to pair your computer with a remote hard drive storage unit which plugs directly into your laptop and saves everything that you write as it is being written.

If your laptop fails, your remote hard drive backup storage contains everything your laptop contains which can simply be plugged into any computer for retrieval of that stored data.

@swirlie just don't take your laptop in for repairs with jpegs of you partying with strippers and smoking crack and incriminating Burisma docs

@pancakeslam

Too late, but they told me there's nothing I could show them that they haven't seen twice as much of before, so I'm good.

That’s why it’s important to maintenance laptops
