@Miram If it's dry you might as well try now, the internal side of HDDs as far as I know is nearly completely sealed because even micrometer-wide particles would do a disaster, so if there's water I guess it can only be on the PCB outside at worst. But still, I'm no hardware engineer so I can't say for sure.

Installing it in the USB enclosure should be trivial anyway, so long as they let you disassemble it. Otherwise you would have to break the plastic, but at that point maybe it's worth waiting until you can buy an empty/openable one.
