Do you say weiner dog or dachsund

My entire childhood I had no clue they were called dachsunds 🤣

weiner, hot dog or annoying little barker dog lol

My childhood neighbors had 1 or 2, my former adult neighbor had 1... they seem to think everything they see is theirs, and act like they can intimidate you, and you just laugh, smile or annoying roll your eyes as they try.

@Lilymoon Yeah, I didn't nessarily see them a ton, but I never was able to earn their trust to pet them much...

Though if they see you relaxing with their owners, they end up calming down and accepting your presence.

But yes extra yappy lol

Started off with Dachshund (a wealthy friend's Mother owned one) and devolved to sausage dog, then weiner dog when I moved to NA..

So I guess few persons of Germanic background made it to Canada, if neither word was correct, assuming you grew up in the US's Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern neighbor...?

@Lilymoon It *is* silly, but it might well be that German immigrants preferentially came to the US in the big moves of the 19th century.

I know there is a strong Scots representation in Canada, but never thought much about where Germanic immigrants landed in the New World...

I just say dachshund.

Fun fact: What we now refer to as the hot dog was originally called the Dachshund sausage. Some cartoonist thought it would be funny to put a Dachshund dog on a bun, but he couldn't spell the word dachshund, so he just captioned it, "Hot dog, anyone?"
