Buts that's the catch. If you learn and become hardened...you really aren't coming out on top. But if you don't, you'll just get taken for granted or taken advantage of some more. So where is the fine line?

@Bleedingheart11: its difficult not to become jaded in an often cynical world, but if you can refrain from doing so, it does make you shine brighter than others.

@Bleedingheart11: ah, sorry. I know that feeling. And I sympathize. But in the long run, I'd rather be taken for granted than to stop having faith. I can move past things that happen, but I don't want to give up on people. That feels like it might be an empty life.

@Serenitree: that's where I'm at right now. Part of what makes me who I am is that I don't want to give up on people. But i don't want to keep wasting my energy on the ones that don't deserve it.

@Bleedingheart11: yeah. I get it. And yet, you can't know, until it's done, if they are worth the effort or not.

Think of it this way. They weren't worth your effort then, they aren't worth your angst now. They're part of history. Just remember who they are, in case they come back, so you'll know to say no.
