"This is really funny stuff...he's not good enough and he never will be...a hack player and no singer at all...could not write a decent song if his life depended on it"

Vulgar, dishonest and obscene pretty much sums up everything Nugent was/is and why he is a hero to a very narrow segment of the population.

Considering that The Doobie Brothers and other acts which have more hits (and more talent) are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t think Nugent has a leg to stand on here. Yes, there are one or two worse acts (i.e., The Sex Pistols) who are in ....but even John Lydon (Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols) says they don’t belong there.

@DragonFruit I wonder why The Doobie Brothers are not in?
(They definitely belong there)

Crosby is mostly correct. Nugent's best songs required cowriters and were all sung by either Derek St. Holmes or Meatloaf. Nugent's own material was repetitive and sophomoric at best, and he's not much of a singer. He's a decent lead guitar player though, so it's not entirely fair to call him a complete hack.

The R'n'R Hall of Fame is a sham anyway. After what they did to Deep Purple (inducting some members but not all), I can't take them seriously.

@SW-User Well, I wouldn't call The Rock & Roll Hall of fame "a sham"..but I agree with you about what they did to Deep Purple...They didn't even nominate them for induction until 2012, despite the fact that the band was eligible for induction since 1993....You can read the band's "Rock & Roll Statement" at https://www.deeppurple.com/1511-2/.......BTW, Ritchie Blackmore and singer- instrumentalist Candice Night now perform as a duo called "Blackmore's Night"...(They have a great song called "Under a Violet Moon")

@Drummer It's not just the amount of time Purple had to wait, which was absurd. It's how they dissected the lineups, too. They inducted everyone from the Mark 1 lineup with the exception of bassist Nick Simper for some reason, even though he played on those early albums including "Hush". Meanwhile, when they inducted Metallica, they included bassist Robert Trujillo even though he had been in the band a short time and had not recorded anything with them at that point. I realize that's a very specific gripe, but that sort of politics drives me nuts about that organization.

*dismounts soapbox*
Drummer · M
@SW-User You're right! Nick Simper should have been included.
