There are many kinds of “pushing away”.

1. They do things that they know would hurt you or upset you.

2. They don’t know if they want to keep you. This shows in their actions towards you and other people they’d rather have.

3. They tell you outright that they want you gone.

The message is the same. Different people just vary in the delivery.

It’s the only sensible way to be. People who can’t show that they want you around don’t deserve to have you stick around.

And it goes both ways, tbh. I don’t expect anyone to stick around who I have pushed away.
