I Appreciate Good Manners
Basic Civility.... I see good manners as a sign of respect. It is really as simple as that. If you have no respect for someone there is no real incentive to employ good manners in their presence. I believe the opposite is also true. I believe that if you have respect for someone, you will be well mannered in their presence.
Many argue with me and say that I am following archaic beliefs - passed on from generation to generation. But I most certainly did not learn good manners from my parents. I believe it to be a part of some moral code unique to me, though I have no regard for conventional morality.
It is so hard to find people with good manners these days. Society seems to no longer have interest in being civilized. But the incivility of most people just makes me appreciate those with proper manners more.
