Albert Einstein "everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the Laws of the universe.

A spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. "

'It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropomorphic concept which I cannot take seriously. I feel also not able to imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere. My views are near to those of Spinoza: admiration for the beauty of and belief in the logical simplicity of the order and harmony which we can grasp humbly and only imperfectly. I believe that we have to content ourselves with our imperfect knowledge and understanding and treat values and moral obligations as a purely human problem—the most important of all human problems.'

Yes, Einstein believed in God. However, not the same God as yours.

"ALL have sinned" God will have no sin in heaven, not one.

Jesus says if we ever thought someone was a fool, we have committed murder in our heart and God will judge us for murder when he comes back and you will be sent to hell for that. WE ALL have come short of heaven. Therefore we are all doomed. Noone can enter heaven.

That is why God says "My own arm reached down" Jesus came down to save us!

@Carazaa Your justifications make no sense at all. We were born with sin so why bother trying? Let's all do as we please and I see a lot of religious people doing just that and then ask for forgiveness.

@GeniUs They aren't Christians if they live in sin and continue doing what they know is wrong. The Holy Spirit helps us.
Look at in context. Einstein says many scientists experience a religious-like sense of awe; not that they believe there's any use in prayer or any afterlife or any interventions by a deity.

In 1936 Einstein wrote a letter to a school girl, written in German. There are various translations, and quotes should be left in context. This is worth reading: https://quoteinvestigator.com/2011/12/16/spirit-manifest/

Sixth grader Phyllis Wright asked Einstein:
We will feel greatly honored if you will answer our question: Do scientists pray, and what do they pray for?
Here's part of Einstein's response:
Scientific research is based on the assumption that all events, including the actions of mankind, are determined by the laws of nature. Therefore, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, that is, by a wish addressed to a supernatural Being. However, we have to admit that our actual knowledge of these laws is only an incomplete piece of work (unvollkommenes Stückwerk), so that ultimately the belief in the existence of fundamental all-embracing laws also rests on a sort of faith. All the same, this faith has been largely justified by the success of science.
The article I cited then gives three different translations of the paragraph you quoted above; here's one:
On the other hand those who are devoted to scientific study are filled with the conviction that nature in its law-abidingness shows the presence of a spirit who is vastly greater than the human spirit and before whom we must humbly confess our own very modest powers. Scientific work, therefore, leads to religious feeling of a unique type which is, of course, different from the religious feeling of less informed men.
@ElwoodBlues Yes, all scientific work, leads to more and more awe of god!🙏 Much more than less informed people.
@Carazaa Awe, yes. As a pretty well informed person who has gone so far as to earn a PhD in a STEM field, I know something about that awe.

But that awe doesn't lead to evidence of an afterlife, or of a being you can pray to who will reach in and modify the world based on your prayers, or even evidence of a creator. You can call that awe "God" but it's not in any way the God of the Christian Bible.

@ElwoodBlues

Knowing there is a God, and knowing God are two different things entirely!

Most intelligent people know there is a God. Every country and tribe worship and tries to please God. but we can't earn heaven no matter how hard we try. This is why Jesus came to save us. He did the work.

I not only know there is a God, I know God personally. He saved me, He has given me the spirit of truth, he answers my prayers, he forgives my sins, and he helps me.

It is so amazing that atheists do not believe us, we were all atheists before God saved us. God is Holy, we are sinful. Unless we are saved we don't realize this. But this is the truth. Being saved is not head knowledge but a gift from God. He literally changes us.
