Certain sensations can be compensated in other ways, don't you think? I know what you might be thinking🤭... but here's what I'm thinking...
I've recently become mindful of my water consumption while showering. And it made me think about why I've enjoyed long, warm showers to begin with. It's the feeling of warmth on my skin... I find it self soothing, giving myself what feels like healing energy.
But I've made a choice. No long, warm showers for me anymore. Simple and to the point... wash & condition hair, wash body, shave, rinse, and I'm outta there. Oh, and a very quick (only twice a week) indulgence of homemade sugar scrub exfoliating that I just can't let go of!!😩 Sigh... a bit of disappointment accompanies this choice I've made.
Today, I walked outside on my deck, and suddenly... sun... skin... warmth! All those moments of blue sky, puffy cloud watching and I didn't fully recognize the opportunity for some self soothing sun warmth. Forget about the shower... It feels amazing.😌
Soaking up the sun as I write this... journal, cherry lemonade, porch umbrella, and the blessing of a cool breeze so I don't 🥵. Sun warmth on my skin... it's the simple things.
Sounds quite relaxing, even soothing. Just don't get too warm so you begin to "glisten", then you'll just need a shower and end up using the hot water again.
@Ontheroad Good point. But nope, no glistening.🥵😂 However, I am gonna soak my feet in a warm foot bath this evening. My daughter gifted me one that bubbles and vibrates to massage my feet.🤭 My toes will be nice and warm.
@StarLily well it’s nice you got out in the sun and enjoyed your time later. Feels good after a shower to dry your hair outdoors if it’s not too hot. I think with the rising energy price most people are going to have to cut back on the long, hot showers to save money on heating the water and the water itself. The main reason I take longer showers is to help my back when arthritis is kicking up.
@cherokeepatti Thank you. And yes, I love letting my hair air dry... can't even remember the last time I used a hair dryer. I'm sure long showers do help a lot with arthritis pain... that's understandable.
I know EXACTLY what you're thinking.😏 You're thinking... "There's too much sunshine in this darn post. I need some rain so I can tap dance!"😂
And, did you know that I CAN?... Tap dance!😌 So much fun.☂️
