How do you think scientists know what the sun is made of?

I know the answer and I don't want anyone else who knows to actually answer. I'm interested in the speculations of the commonfolk
I won't give away the answer. I'd just like to point out that Cecilia Helena Payne-Gaposchkin proposed the proper composition of the Sun and other stars in 1925 in her PhD thesis. Hans Bethe published the calculations that show how the sun & stars are powered in 1939, though others had speculated the general mechanism far earlier.

P.S. this standard astrophysics diagram was first published in 1911.

@ElwoodBlues
You drop into an ongoing discussion and suddenly expect it to all be about you??
You might want to stop projecting yourself and your problems onto others. Especially when they have just as much of a right to join the conversation and more than enough intelligence to make you feel like you have to overcompensate with your sore loser attitude and your sudden but predictable topic change when you’ve painted yourself into a corner. (I’m sure that you’re used to standing in the corner of room by now, let’s call it your dunce cap deluxe maneuver) it’s tired and overused much like your Real Doll 😂

@ElwoodBlues
Linear equations aren't linear algebra. Matrices and affine transforms and eigenvectors are closer to the heart of linear algebra.

I see that you are working hard to distract from your Shakespeare error though, LOL!!!
Wow you’re like the energizer bunny of astronauts aren’t you ?? You can google, copy and paste all you want. It’s still not a substitute for real intelligence and your semantics FFS 🤦‍♀️ get over it and yourself. You don’t know what you don’t know. Accept it or not but it’s hard knock life for you for sure !! [media=https://youtu.be/LH6MstVxehQ]
@2cool4school BTW, I will never forget your awesome "sweep the leg" move.

Still. Trembling. In. My. Sneakers!!!
Don’t make me “sweep the leg” karate kid style. You won’t like it!!

They clearly don't. The only force that could produce that much energy is the deadly dog fart.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@2cool4school I don't have any alt accounts either and never will. You need help.

Also don't just randomly accuse people of absolutely moronic crap. If you want to put someone down, find a valid reason to do it.

Wait let me just make sure that I have the whole loaf here, are you trying hard to get friendly or am I just feeling my own sword ?? You might want to look up before you get all tacky tacky and stuff your wad in the hamper. You know what I’m talking about and so does that melon 🍉!!

Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@TryingtoLava Ah come on there's no fun in that. I'm feeding you another piece of the puzzle to see if you can work it out. I ruined it for myself by just asking for the answer so now I have to live vicariously
@Jackaloftheazuresand umm what bout how much ofa element is coming off it like alottt more of one thing is gona be more %
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@TryingtoLava I'll tell you that's not the case. Can you tell me the flaw in that method?
SW-User
I think they used prisms to split the light coming from stars like the sun, and then compared the spectra against those of known gases and chemicals.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@SW-User it’s a lot more likely than that graphic and hack job from @ElwoodBlues lol 😂
exexec · 61-69, C
I know, but I am totally blown away with the data coming from the James Webb Space Telescope. I can't wait to see what JWST reveals in the months to come.

@CopperCicada so you know?
2cool4school · 46-50, F
I have a PhD in a physical science. I don’t think you want me to answer
@CopperCicada I do. I want to see you answer this guy 👇@Jackaloftheazuresand

I didn’t know they were on speaking terms?! Thought they’ed chucked it in the bin ages ago. My lord indeed 🤨!!

I'd imagine it has certain electromagnetic and optical signatures observable from solar telescopes and now probes. From the signatures could be derived their physical origin, I understand a kind of nuclear reaction, comparable in effects to those which can be generated on Earth.

We are stardust
We are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves back to the gaaaaaaaarrrrrrrdddddddeeeeeennnnn

Somehow they read the light signals coming into their machines.
Each element has a particular signal.

Well if they know, then the answer is Science.

@Viper
sounds like you don't know what you're talking about at all 😂
I have to put on a new record this ones too slow 🥱🙄
And why don’t you just borrow a decent baby carriage it’s only 12:30 🕧 now back to our regularly scheduled program people arguing for nothing on the inter web. 🤓

@2cool4school yeah, you clearly missed a point or two, if you think I'm all about nukes.

But have fun stirring the pot with your false information ;)

I wasn’t implying anything about you sorry I mistook you for a live wire but you cleared that up. Enjoy your beans.

@2cool4school I occasionally know a thing or two about somethings. 🤓😂
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@MrAboo I like your style. Keep up the good work 😊
I would say they perfom test from sun rays.
