They can’t go in good conscience…the moon isn’t necessarily gender neutral considering we’re always hearing about “ the man in the moon!” A conundrum!

@ninalanyon Thanks. I enjoy photography and very much enjoy photographing the moon.
Oh yeah, I didn’t master Latin in H. S.

@soar2newhighs I didn't master it either, despite studying it, albeit reluctantly, for three years. But it did give me an appreciation for the etymology of English words. In fact most of the Western European languages have a lot influences from Latin. Later on scientific vocabulary added a lot of Greek derived words. I didn't have to study Greek, thank goodness, but it's interesting to see how so many European languages share quite a lot of similar Latin and Greek derived vocabulary; even if you do have to squint a bit to see it sometimes.
@ninalanyon Indeed! You are correct.

Those of us who opposed this launch system are quietly smiling.

Given the higher cost of such a trip today and the lack of anything there that couldn’t be observed by a robotic probe, a manned flight isn’t worth it. Manned space travel in general is a waste of money anyway. We should be focusing on space telescopes and robots instead.

Oh they did go there although there are some eccentrics even in America who try to tell you otherwise. (I have no idea why.)
They simply choose to direct Space travel and exploration in other ways, for political and financial as well as scientific reasons.
Bad weather can delay launches but is temporary and would not stop the programme.

Just another symptom of how inept our government is and has been for a long time. About 50 years.

@hunkalove It’s actually proof that our government isn’t wasting money on a dick measuring contest with the USSR anymore.

The moon looks boring
LeopoldBloom · M
@agetheweebeast It’s definitely not interesting enough to send people there again.

@agetheweebeast yes very round

@kutee To paraphrase "Raising Arizona,"
"Does the moon come in funny shapes?"
"Sure, if round is funny"
