Two earthquakes near LA this weekend. Both were minor. [I Am Concerned About Big Earthquakes]

The potential disaster along the San Andreas fault has always worried me.
Why do people choose to build and live in one of the biggest cities in the world when they know how catastrophic a big earthquake could be - and that it's inevitable that it will happen one day?

What do the people do to prepare for one?
Are the building codes especially strict?
Are the roads designed for easy mass evacuations and rescues?
Do they have sufficient rescue services on permanent stand-by?

I've notice. this might be a beginning of a big one coming. Just hope it's not like Japan back in 2011
