Well, something similar did happen to me, but we were on a lake. The ex was not experienced in any outdoorsy stuff, and he broke the plastic paddle on the nylon dinghy we were using.
Then he demanded MY paddle, and tried to paddle with great strength to get us to dock, but he had to cross the paddle over the top of the dinghy, right left, right left, and the paddle ended up catching on the nylon cords and flipped right out of the dinghy.
We were completely helpless...but were fortunate that the wind was blowing us toward the reeds and the shallows at one side of the lake. And we were even MORE fortunate when a power boat shouted out and asked us if we needed any help. They were able to retrieve one of the paddles and towed us back to dock.

The beauty of being up the creek is that it is all downhill from there.
Nimbus · M
@hippyjoe1955 Nice one :)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Creeks are generally pretty shallow. I would walk
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti I have learned something :)

Float my way down the creek with the flow.

Stand up
Freeranger · M
A canoe is symmetric. A simple about-face, an adjustment on that cane seat and presto....North to South.
Nimbus · M
@Freeranger Oh! :)
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Get out and walk , creeks are not very deep.
Nimbus · M
@FreeSpirit1 I am now learning that :)
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Nimbus the correct saying is up shits creek without a paddle, then you're stuck. 😁

Surrender to the inevitable.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User Which is?
SW-User
@Nimbus Well creeks are shallow so the inevitable would be that I need to just get up and walk out when I am ready.
PoetryNEmotion · F
@SW-User Making me laugh, Aidoo!
I’d ponder the all time question: How’d I get up here ?
Nimbus · M
Lostpoet · M
I would use my feet as a propeller
Get up and leave
