I drove around the rolling rural countryside north of the Potomac River today, near where it pierces the Blue Ridge.
I stopped at an old canal lock and lock house of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Then I walked down to the Potomac. There must have been a flood recently, since there was thick gooey mud all over. My shoes got coated with a nice layer of it. I had to whack them good. I am glad I had spare shoes in my car!
