Masks on airplanes

For a couple years there it was mandatory. Then it seemed to be kind of frowned on. I haven’t done it in a while but I’m flying almost nonstop over the next two weeks and with everything I’m trying to get done I really don’t want to get sick—cold, flu, Covid, random virus, whatever. The risk is high this time of year. I know masks aren’t perfect but they certainly reduce the risk. So I’ve decided to wear one again this month, just while sitting on the plane.

I've been to Japan quite a few times, and decades before the pandemic, the only people not wearing masks and gloves were white folks.

This is the same also in some other Asian countries. Whenever I was in meetings in Scandinavia, it was very common for people to refuse to shake hands during winter.

If you concerned about cold/flu, you should wear a mask and maybe even gloves. I carry a small bottle of disinfectant clipped to my backpack.
I always got sick after flying. I'm skck now with a hellish cold. Wouldn't wish on anyone. Mask away lol

@Bexsy I got myself vaccinated it a couple of weeks ago. I hope they got the right strain.
You need a N95 mask to protect yourself effectively. The paper surgical masks only protect other people. Cloth masks are comfortable but don’t really do anything. Make sure to get a real N95 where the straps go over your neck and the back of your head. The one where they go over your ears may look similar, but those are KN95s and aren’t as effective.

I fly a fair bit and there's always some folks with them. I think COVID's legacy is that if you're sick don't come to work, if you have a cold wear a mask on plane, etc. I think it's smart and courteous, even while some will make it political.

Don’t know that’s it’s been frowned on since the pandemic…I still see a number of people wearing them, especially on airplanes.

It's common knowledge now that masks can't possibly stop a virus.
That’s understandable in an enclosed space, breathing in the germs from what is a crowd of strangers. Makes perfect sense.

Good for you!

Masks on airplanes? Would'nt the wind and turbulence rip them off? Lol
I get you need to do it to keep working.

Me : im a great believer in catching the lastest cold/flu/whatever each year - it updates your immune system.

But then - i also get sick leave, so i can afford to 🤷‍♀
