Depends. With another women a lot more than with a guy. Guys are so 'for the penny tration' and not much else.

My wife and I change positions several times during sex. We have 5 or 6 regular positions we cycle through. There are exceptions depending on circumstance (dressing room, shower, etc.) that we might stick to one longer or the whole time.

whenever things get stale or uncomfortable. such as if the person on top is getting tired we would switch, or if the position is no longer feeling as pleasurable.
keeping things fresh can be important.

At least once bit twice is most common. Even in missionary there is some kind of movement though...
