Based on how little I get sex these days the thought of this scares me since I always hope one day sex could be something that happens again lol

This is a legitimate concern for men dealing with prostate cancer.

I have several friends whose husbands are dealing or have dealt with this.

I only know of one personally who had his removed and he couldn't deal with the aftereffects. His personality changed, he questioned his masculinity and said he didn't feel like a man anymore. He drove everyone away. My friend and he ended up divorcing, his decision, and he pushed his 2 daughters away as well.

I imagine everyone is different depending on how secure you are with yourself.
I have known women who had a hysterectomy and later said they didn't feel like a woman anymore.

One woman I met years ago at work went through this. I became friendly with her husband and three children along the way too. One night she tried to commit suicide by pill overdose because of her surgery. She was found in time and spent a while in a mental facility. This was about 20 years ago and she is still alive.

Point being...a persons internal feelings about themselves when dealing with cancer and these types of surgeries have a huge psychological impact and everyone is obviously different so it isn't fair for people to judge others about their fears.

My husband had several biopsies on his prostate and some came back inconclusive so he had an MRI done last week. We find out the results this week so this question popping up on here today hit a little close to home since we have been discussing the possible futures if his results show cancer.

Your testicles will still make sperm cells but they will be reabsorbed back into your body. You are still able to have an orgasm, but it will be a dry orgasm. Some men say that a dry orgasm without semen feels normal. But other men find that their orgasm is less intense and pleasurable.

Yes, provided the nerves still work to get an erection, and that can take a while. There is no semen so it can feel a bit different especially for your partner.

Even if you can't get an erection there are many ways to have sex and an orgasm is still possible. However that can be more challenging for your partner because part of the pleasure is being aware of each other's arousal and our brains are hardwired to respond to physical signs such as a man's erection or a woman's wetness.

(I'm not a health professional. This is based on personal experience plus talking to a number of men who have had a radical prostatectomy. )

Good question, if it is removed is there any way you can climax after that. I knew someone who let the cancer take him rather than do something about it. I could google it I guess but it would be interesting to hear from someone based on their real expierence.

@Hummingbird26 good question. You never know when someone you know is going through the same thing.

Should ask your doctor. Also why not try masterbating to find out on your own?
never had one and it's no problem for me
