How to build self discipline? [I Need Discipline]

Because I'm lazy i lose many opportunities. I lack dedication, commitment, hard work and consistency. I'm getting fed up of myself. How to be more self discipline and make my life better?
I don't want to ruin my life being a lazy ass.
There are times I think we all face this. I'm proud of you for recognizing this. When I slip into that mode, I start by doing just one thing I can accomplish that day. Then the next day, one or two, and so on. When you see your accomplishments, it encourages you to do more and that way it's not so overwhelming. Like, don't clean the whole house at once. Take just one room to clean that day. It doesn't take long, and it really does make you feel good. Then start on the next room, in the next day or two.

@LadyGrace You're one sweet lady ma'am!
Thanks for the lovely advice.
Your encouragement and words means a lot to me.
I would follow your advice.

It's something you create over time by pushing yourself and feeling good. You create a positive loop for yourself that makes you want to put the time in, then it becomes a physical pathway in your brain. Like I said with my suggestions in your other post, those are good ideas to pick from.

It's taken me a while to get to the point where I'm working out once or more times a day, but now I look forward to it. I enjoy having done things I didn't "want" to do because it always feels great and makes me feel like I've accomplished something. You've gotta not be too hard on yourself but push yourself just a little every time. It's like being your own best friend.

@Ryannnnnn that's some lovely advice. Yeah i think I've gotten used to my comfortzone if i start getting out of it i will get addicted to that active lifestyle too.

You're absolutely right there.

I have the same problem.. I try to start with a small commitment such as doing yoga at least for 15 minutes everyday but I'm not even doing this small thing everyday XD.. But at least I am doing it at least a few times a week.. That's better than before when I didn't do it at all, but eventually I want to make it as my daily routine.. I think having my own daily routine will be very helpful to be less lazy
jellyfishman · 31-35, F
@YourFriend4ever Yea.. I have irregular sleeping/eating/everything schedule as well, it's really hard to change as I've been like this pretty much all my life unless I was forced to be on time like at school, work or stuff.. I think it is not possible to change everything at once, but once you start with a very small thing that you can do it everyday easily and keep the small promise, it might make you a bit more confident about making other slightly bigger commitments/routines.. Maybe we can be like monitor buddies lol, to check if we kept our small promise everyday together

@jellyfishman wow that's an amazing idea. We should do that. So recently i was diagnosed with diabetes. Workout is very important for my good health which i procrastinate out of laziness. I think i should start from there.
@YourFriend4ever Sounds like depression. I hope you feel better soon.
@YourFriend4ever I feel that way, too, sometimes, but working on it.
YourFriend4ever · 22-25, F
@LadyGrace hope things get better for you. ❤️
@YourFriend4ever You, too, friend. I'm getting there.

Start by cleaning your living space top to bottom. It makes you feel more motivated and driven. Then buy a planner and write out your objectives for the day on it with little check boxes next to them. Check them off as you accomplish them.

I've been doing that for about 2 years now and I get a lot of shit done.
YourFriend4ever · 22-25, F
@Eternity wow I'm happy for you and thanks for that advice. I will try to do that.
I really do want to change myself regarding this.
@Eternity That is very true.
Try setting goals, small ones to start with, "from small things big things grow"

Having a daily routine is also very helpful
@YourFriend4ever Do you think talking with someone professional about your negativity would help
YourFriend4ever · 22-25, F
@plAfulandalittleNaughty Yes i think. But more than that i think need someone to constantly push me to do better. Then once i get used to it i will not need as much help.
@YourFriend4ever That's so true, it's so important to have someone in our lives that's always there for us, that always supports and encourages us, especially when we're young and still finding our way in life

First thing you are naturally an enthusiastic person! Just find out what makes you dull and stops your enthu. Otherwise every resolutions goes failure.
YourFriend4ever · 22-25, F
@Tukudo what makes me dull? Fear of getting out of my comfortzone i think.
Tukudo · 41-45, M
Okay! Just take baby steps to come out of comfort zone.@YourFriend4ever

At the end of each day, write down a positive thing you achieved that day, (no negatives or disappiontments) however trivial it may seem to you...read it out loud and say afterwards... "I achieved that today"
YourFriend4ever · 22-25, F
@mysteryespresso well sometimes we love the results but hate the process. So comfort zone is the problem.
