Should the Secret Service protect the President or the office of the President?

Are they legitimate bodyguards or agents of the Deep State with conflicting motivations and loyalties?

Former Secret Service agent Jonathan Wackrow commends the actions of his fellow agents on January 6, despite then-President Trump's alleged demands to be taken to the Capitol to join the insurrectionists.

@MistyCee i would avoid a question i couldnt answer too hell thats the liberal way
@Whyme The "Liberal" way?

As opposed to responding with a whatabout?

I'm not going to say that's "conservative" but it seems to be what Trumpists pass off as conservatism these days.

@MistyCee the budget will fix itself lol direct quote from the liberal party tell me hiw you support that ?
I think we need to have people around Presidents, Generals, Admirals, Cabinet members, Governors, Senators, Congressmen...ALL be willing to think and test orders/directions for reasonableness and legality...
Their job is to protect the President insofar as his safety is vital to the functioning of the federal government. That can mean refusing to allow the President to place himself into a dangerous situation. You can think of him as two people - the person who holds the office of the Presidency, and the public figure we refer to as "the President." If the first one is trying to put the second one in danger, the Secret Service is obligated to ignore him to protect the second one. In other words, Mr. Donald Trump is not allowed to endanger President Donald Trump.

Lib propaganda and BS certainly gets old. Anything to take attention from the corruption at hand in the Whitehouse, right?

Maybe he wanted to go to the Capitol to stop the protesters
@eli1601 I don't "think" that, Hutchinson testified to it under oath. If someone else testifies under oath that he didn't want to do that, we can talk. Otherwise, innuendo doesn't equate to actual testimony. I notice you people are only focusing on the ketchup on the wall and grabbing the steering wheel while ignoring all of the other damning testimony.
@eli1601 Maybe he wanted to see the 'Special People' that he 'Loved' hang Pence. 🤔
@softspokenman There's no "maybe," the evidence shows Trump instigated the riot and delayed responding to it.

They work for us, for me. Normally, the concern is an attack on the president is what they should guard against. However Trump was unstable and violent and should have been shot.

They would be held responsible if they did the situation was out of control regardless if they were his people as he said there is too much risk he could have been assassinated very easily
Just the living people.
