Wait! How was George Washington and General Grant any bettet than General Lee? In that case, we should not celebrate any early American leaders as they all contributed to slavery, oppression and genocide. General Lee was no worse than George Washington who was a commander during the American-indian wars and set the course for genocide againt the native Americans. Also, under the same American flag you proudly represent today... except there were only 13 stars back then.

These people will use being proud of their heritage to justify them worshiping the confederacy and its legacy, yet when you point out the racism, they downplay it or make excuses. "It wasn't that bad" or "it was the Democrats who were racist and the KKK!" in a weak attempt to discredit the modern political party, while conveniently forgetting that the south was well represented by the socially conservative Democratic party at that time, until the party realignment.

This, and $7.65, will buy you a venti peach-lemon iced tea at Starbucks. Pretend you have a working brain, and acknowledge that the Democrat party of 1862, has absolutely nothing to do with the Democrat party of 2023, and the same goes for the Republican party.

This was NEVER an unresolved issue. The Constitution is clear, and there is no provision for secession.

"your" missing the part where you think you have a point.
These are also the states who don’t want Martin Luther King taught about in their schools because that prompts the discussion about why he was important and then oops—CRT alert.

What would be comparable ? Celebrating VJ Day on Dec 7 ?
mind-blowing.

State government offices including the DMV close for Confederate Memorial Day in South Carolina as well, something Condé Nast fails to mention
