Update: 14 students and a teacher killed in Texas school shooting

Fourteen students and a teacher are dead after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, according to Gov. Greg Abbott. The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead, he said.

The suspect also allegedly shot his grandmother before entering the school and again opening fire, Abbott said. He did not say anything further about her condition. Abbott said the shooter had a handgun and also possibly a rifle.

Inb4 the sick gun fetishists accuse you of politicizing the problem.
@Ferise1 Nope. He wants "very fine people" with "good genes" to feel safe from the scary brown people.

3700 people die every day in automobile accidents. We’d better ban those too!
And yet MORE people die in automobiles! Better ban them. Call your Senator now. @CorvusBlackthorne
@stratosranger You continue to press this point as though it is something profound, when all it proves is that you are a demented gun fetishist who will grasp at any straw you can to allow the continued slaughter of children.
So you’re ok with children getting killed in automobiles. But no surprise there. You’re also OK with children being murdered in the womb just so long as guns aren’t used, huh? Goes to show you’re another liberal hypocrite. . @CorvusBlackthorne

Who cares about the kids?! ARE THE GUNS OK?!

/Just getting that out of the way...

There is no sanctity for life in this country for anyone other than the unborn.

@Vin53 [c=800000]It sounds like you missed your anger management class, again.

😳

Where was the good guy with a gun? This was in Texas they're supposed to be all over that state.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Heartlander Please do not include common sense arguments in your posts. :)
Vin53 · M
Further proof that today's America is neither mature or responsible enough to have the access to modern guns.

@Vin53 Todays schools are too big and too out of control to enforce gun restriction rules if they did exist. Go to your nearest high school at quiting time to see how many kids with cars exiting the parking lot are doing so within the legal speed limit.

[c=800000]Chicago has STRICT gun control laws. How is that working out? [/c]
@badminton And that process has failed. Criminals do not abide by the law. If they want a gun they’ll get it through illegal means.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@stratosranger The Texas shooter legally bought TWO AR-15's on his 18th birthday. A great many shootings happen with legally purchased guns. So much for that false gun-nut narrative.
Thank you for proving my point. Gun control doesn’t work. Time to figure out something better. @badminton
Doomflower · 36-40, M
At this point I am actually turning against gun control of any kind. Heck, let 12 year olds buy c4 if they wanna, why not? FREEDOM!!!!
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@badminton you'll pry my c4 from my cold, dead, hands!!!! MURICA
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@Doomflower Let's be ambitious. Get a 105mm cannon. Blow up the neighbor's house if they play music too loud. Their doggie piddles on your lawn? BOOM.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@badminton suburban warfare GO!!
Vin53 · M
Well hell, it's close enough Alex Jones can just drive down and explain to the parents that they're crisis actors to their face!

/Hopefully one of them shoots him
💔 Another senseless shooting!

Thanks for the links.

@Vivaci the owner of the last link happens to own more guns than myself

I hate to say it, but it looks hopeless to me. Here’s what would theoretically turn the tide: if suddenly about 10% of the population became single-issue voters, pro-gun control. Can you imagine that ever happening? Because already about 10% of the population are single-issue voters anti-gun control. It doesn’t matter if a gun control measure is broadly popular, say 80% of voters support it. But guess what? None of them care about it as much as the 10% who are adamantly opposed to it, so that’s whom Congress is going to be afraid of. Swing voters have to stop caring about other issues like the economy, CRT, the validity of the last election, abortion, etc. and hyper focus on fixing the gun problem or nothing will ever get done.

Wow! Close to home. Lots of family and friends in south Texas and the border areas.

Rather than asking about what we are doing about guns, the question should be about what we are doing with and about our children. South Texas has always been a place where people have guns, lots of them. But it just recently became a place where young people have taken to randomly shooting and killing other people.
@Heartlander No, not really.

[c=800000]Exempting teachers from "Gun Free Zone" laws would help deter some of these senseless acts. [/c]

Seal the borders

@MarineBob That didn't take long.

@MarineBob
Seal the borders
and don't come out; thanks!
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Really I have no reason to

Thanks for the breaking news. I'll look into it now.
