Anyone ever heard of a charity called Tunnel to Towers? They are an American charity:

Their function is now threefold. Normally, they pay off the mortgages of the families of first responders with young children, who have died in the line of service.

They also BUILD homes for disabled veterans and first responders, so that they can live and function in a home designed to accommodate their special needs.

[big]Frank Siller JUST announced that they will NOW be building tiny houses for homeless veterans who are living on the streets all over this country!!!
[/big]

Frank Siller, the founder, began this foundation to honor the memory of his brother, a New York City Firefighter, who died while trying to rescue people from the twin towers on 9/11.

I would say he has created GREAT honor...for his brother and for himself.

At the suggestion of Stereoguy, I am posting a link.

@Stereoguy it's been beautiful here. In the 60s and sunny. Taking advantage of the weather and we are out cutting wood and enjoying the days here.

I contribute my $11 a month to them. It is a wonderful charity and they open their books to show exactly where these donations go. Frank has definitely honored his hero brother’s legacy the right way.

@JesseInTX You are one of the good ones!

@4meAndyou I strongly support our first responders and military. They give so much with so little thanks. People often forget as well it’s not just the soldier, sailor, marine, airman, coast guard, police officer, firefighter and EMT/paramedic that serve- their families serve as well.

@JesseInTX You are exactly right.
my husband and I make a yearly donation to T2T. 93 cents of every dollar donated goes to help the cause compared to 8 cents of every dollar to the Susan Komen foundation

@saragoodtimes I do, too. Also to Wounded Warriors and to St. Joseph's Indian School.
@4meAndyou never heard of the Indian School

@saragoodtimes They had a bad rep for a while, but have turned it around. Their needs are so great! The children who live at the school can't go home, because of alcoholic parents or because of situations like starvation.

now that's a worthwhile charity
4meAndyou · F
@Pretzel They had an award ceremony last night, and one of the most moving quotes that was spoken was written by St. Francis: "While we have time, let us do good."

Yes they are a great organization to give to . The man has a lot of heart and stamina to do what he does .
4meAndyou · F
@Driver2 His foundation is doing very well to be able to expand and help homeless veterans, as he is doing. I hope he sets up a way to continue his good works after he, himself, passes on.

Great cause but kinda ridiculous and sad that it is needed in the first place. Like why does this country allow that to happen in the first place?
