Have you ever been lost in the woods?

almost. I was certain we were lost but my dog knew we weren't lost. it took me a moment to understand what she was saying. me and my dog went camping with a few hundred fellow hippies. our first camping trip together. I thought it would be an awesome idea to put my tent in the middle of the forest with no trails that go there. me and my dog then went to the main fire where everyone hangs out at night. we sat there until it got late and the sun was gone. so here I am, trying to figure out where my tent is and I don't even have a flashlight !! so I start walking away from the fire and as its getting dark I feel by the way my dog is pulling that she sees the trail and she had a big white tail ( was half samoyed) so it was actually easy to just let her guide me in the dark. at some point i feel her leaving the trail just about where I remembered leaving the trail so i'm impressed and continue to follow her.as we walked on the forest was thicker and all i could see was her tail that fliped over her back like nordic dogs, not even the rest of her but she seems consistent in her pace and direction so it feels all right. but then at some point she starts going to the left, going to the right, like she,s just chilling and looking around. so I start getting nervous and i tell her " keep going, we can't stop her" but she's acting like she's just dicking around. so then I get this panic and I think " oMG, I followed the dog thinking she knows where to go but she was just exploring and really didn't have a plan". so I sit on the floor wondering how I could sleep out here with my dog in my arms, I'm trying to be calm and adapt so I pull out a lighter just to see what surrounds me and I'm sitting directly in front of my tent. after that I would never use flashlights and every summer we'd go back to the hippy gathering and all i had to say was " a la maison" and she would guide me directly to my tent.

I have some big woods not far from where I live and in the summer I do try different walks and have got lost on a couple of occasions, I do them in hot weather because I am a naturist so it is awkward if I can't find my way back to where I leave my bag

@Tminus6453 [c=800000]I can imagine. Especially in a deep wooded area in cold weather. [/c]
