What is the longest amount of time you have been without power? [I Love Bad Weather]

For me it was 17 hours when a broken tree branch severed a power line during a rainstorm. It was not fixed until the end of the day. I don't live in the hills myself, but this is wildfire country and I know others who've lost power for days due to fires.

10 days. I was fortunate enough to have a woodstove that kept me from freezing.

I do hope you get your power back sonn.

@SweetMae Body heat works too 😁
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@SalttyDawg It does. Too bad I was stranded alone.

@SweetMae Yes that is too bad 😉
My power just went out and we are experiencing a major snowstorm. Happily, the power came back on after ten minutes--but it did force me to develop a backup plan.
I lived for a year by a stream and used DC for everything, radio, canned music, lights. Heated with kerosene. Just sold it to somene else who will do it better than me cause he has a motorhome. I only had a slide-in on stilts so I was evicted, my own campsite, legal deeded property, nothing else was good there but a pretty camper. And prettier and more portable than mine. I love how some real estate is more legtal when u can't use it than when u can. lol!

If I had been richer I would still own the place now and camp there in MY motorhome.

A month, we had a very serious natural disaster here. Power companies from other states had to come in to help restore power it was so massive.
But to answer your question it was 5 days. Luckily I have a mini-generator that was big enough to keep food cold and a couple of lights on.

@BiasForAction We have a generator too. It's a good idea to have one for emergencies. I think a lot more people in California have them now due to intentional shut-offs.

Around 55 hours, as I recall. It was 90+ degrees, and I was more fortunate than many who lost power...when Hurricane Irma swept through.
6 days, winds knocked out power and fallen trees on every street. Public school had to close for a week for clean up.
we have a generator that is seldom used but worth every penny paid when we need it

Three days, after an Illinois tornado. I bought a generator after that.

2 or 3 days when a bad summer storm took out part of the neighborhood's power

Like 4 days. It was after an ef4 tornado ripped through my town.

A month, but it was intentional. Unintended was probably a day.
