Have to comment on one of those.

Apparently there are two versions of this. One is Asian [Angelica sinensis (A. sinensis)] and the other is European. [Angelica archangelica (A. archangelica)].

The asian type has some serious caveats and used in herbal medicine. Where the European type is used in culinary foods.

My mother went to great lengths to smuggle in a A. archangelica root into the US and actually she did it back in the 1970s on a trip to Germany. Unfortunately it just wouldn't grow here. So the whole effort was a huge waste.

She eventually found out that celery root (also called celeriac) sort of was similar yet not as pungent.

Must say though I have bought and used celery roots in my "root soup" recipe. Yet it's sort of hard to find now as well as very expensive.

That suicide plant, another thing in Australia that’ll get you.

@cherokeepatti Every part of the plant is covered in silica hairs which act like hypodermic needles. If touched, they inject a venom which causes excruciating pain that can last for days, even months.
the plant produces a neurotoxin similar to that of a spider or cone snail.
