I'm now a proud father of a carnivorous plant

Which is ironic for reasons I shall not discuss at this time

SO jealous!
I've searched and search for venus here but cannot for the life of me find one!

@Eidolon Just gotta keep looking! I spent a year looking for a Calathea musaica and finally caved and ordered one online. Two days later I went to a greenhouse I'd never been to before and found six of them for half of what I paid for mine 🥲 They've gotta be somewhere, just check everywhere you can

@BigAssLeech hear that they are not easy to look after/sustain... best you start reading up on tips.

Where can I get one and will it survive here and can it eat mosquitoes?
BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
@Miram I found mine at a grocery store for $7 but you can get them pretty much anywhere that sells plants. They'll survive outdoors during the summer in most places. They're native to North and South Carolina and live in bogs so keep that environment in mind. They won't eat mosquitoes tho. Female mosquitoes eat blood to be able to reproduce and don't eat nectar, so they won't land on it themselves. Male mosquitoes are strictly nectar eaters so they might land on it and get caught, but they don't drink blood anyway, so not very helpful
I love fly traps!!!

They're so cool 😌
BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
@caccoon They really are. Idk how long it's been since it was last fed (it came from a grocery store in a plastic tube) so I coaxed an unsuspecting bug into its jaws and I felt bad but I must feed my child 😔
@caccoon i was gona tag you hahah

@BigAssLeech luckily they don't have to have bugs to survive, but it makes them grow faster 😊
