I Would Like to Live In Log Cabin In the Woods

The thought of walking out of urbanity, off the asphalt onto the fluffy forest floor is a deep seeded dream of mine. I've had this dream since I was a child, while seeing a log cabin for the first time. It spoke to me. I wondered how anyone would want to live in anything less, to or more. It was perfect. The warmth from the logs, the warmth from the fire, the warmth I imagined radiating off of my future family living there.

I'm much older now with a slightly different vision. It will now be just me, and maybe a companion. Always a dog or 3, and my children and their future children coming in and out. I used to imagine my log cabin as a hub of activity, slightly chaotic and always nurturing. Now I see it as a place to calm myself and process the events of my life. A place to call home, my home.

My log cabin doesn't have to be more than one or two rooms and a huge wood burning stove to keep me warm. It needs to be nestled on at least 2 acres of mostly redwood forest, so I can be away. Off the grid, so to speak. This property will need to have a timber harvest plan, so I can cut firewood and sell the occasional log if i need to. I want electricity for lights and certainly wifi, running water, of course plumbing. I want a structure to store the fire wood I cut down and split. I would also like a hot house because I will have a small nursery selling native plants to make money. I'd also like to have a 4 wheeler to drive around my property to check on things, like holes in the fences, or whatever. A hen house for chickens would be lovely too.

For me, this would be paradise, and i will continue to put it out to the universe in hopes of manifesting it.

Omg! This is me and that’s my house! Do I have to fight you for it?! (Joking). We could be neighbours! Seriously reading that was like reading my own words. I hope you find it. I hope you make it happen.

@SW-User we could definitely be neighbors! That would be so amazing....
One day I hope to achieve even a little bit of this. It's possible. Anything is possible, if we work for it.

You know, you me and Copper, could get a piece of land and grow old together.

@DirtyBird Yes,
anything is possible.
🙌

My same dream..

only difference is I'm willing settle for being surrounded by pine trees if I need to.

You said all that so well btw.

@Coppercoil sounds like a slice of heaven to me, and something to aspire to.
Yep, I knew you were awesome like that.

Whoa...I know that many people live in log cabins in my country but most of them can't even dream about such comfort. In some areas it would be pure nonsense. It would cost a fortune.

@CrazyMusicLover yeah I know. I'm thinking big. Honestly, an outhouse, gas lanterns and homing pigeons would make me just as happy.

@DirtyBird I don't know in what kind of terrain would you like to live but when I hear "a log cabin" I immediately imagine local folks who lead an incredibly difficult life in small properties high in the mountains, where they still have no running water, gas and sewer system.

On the other hand, log cabin hotels surely offer all of this to tourists so it's not impossible. Just expensive and I'm not sure if you could own as big area of woods as you wish as your private property. (Luckily, because I hope I won't witness a day when people will be able to own whole woods here as their private property).

@CrazyMusicLover I would always be a steward of the land. I have the greatest respect and love for trees. I'm not expecting anything about living off the grid to be easy. I imagine it will be peaceful tho.

Perfect serenity!!

@Quimliqer truly. Maybe a place I could finally be myself and not worry.

@DirtyBird I was gonna send a pic, but it's got away I guess🙁
That's always been a dream of mine. More now than ever.
That pic is absolutely gorgeous. I would LOVE to live there.
