If you had to uproot your life and plant somewhere else, where would you go?

SW-User Best Comment
The moon 🌝. 👍
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
I respect that but wouldn’t that be too cold / hot and lonely ?

Just curious.

Looking at Wellsboro, PA right now. Small town but a tourist area so lots of shops and restaurants. Located in Tioga County, one of the least populated counties in the state..

SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@AlchemyFox Yes. I have lived here for 20 years and I am sorry to say, the area has declined significantly. Between the 2008 financial crises, the opioid epidemic, and then Covid, this area has taken a massive step down. Me and my wife aren't looking to stay another 20...
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@SumKindaMunster Good for you guys. It did go downhill relatively quickly I feel and it’s not going to improve. I hope you find a place that gives you peace.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@AlchemyFox You as well! I know you are searching for your place in the world, I hope you find it for you and your son! 🤗
throughTheMotions · 46-50, M
Different country, and culture. I've spent a little time in Brazil. There are downsides, but the way the (passionate) people interact with each other and find reasons to celebrate is different than what I typically experience m in the US, and is quite invigorating. I like new experiences and getting out of my norms. If I were to uproot my life, I would love to root somewhere quite different than the typical. .

Anywhere out of the Philadelphia suburbs
Somewhere out in the country where it's quiet

Some tropical island with few people

Pacific Northwest (coastal) - anywhere from northern CA to southern WA
Ontheroad · M
@AlchemyFox California is very expensive, Washington a bit less (although still expensive) and Oregon (depending upon where you live) doable for most people. There is a certain something about living out west - a sense of freedom, of inclusion, of a healthier more inviting style of life... I don't have the words for it, but I sure know the feeling of it.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Ontheroad Oh yeslol I adore the west 🖤🖤🖤 I know exactly what you mean. I’m from the east and it’s just too tame. I left my heart in Cali and I’ll be back for it.

Maybe we could chat sometime about different places? I’m a traveler too but I need to settle for now for my son. Just not sure where to go yet. The west is vast and I’m researching for a good fit.
Ontheroad · M
@AlchemyFox sure we can - it's been awhile since I've been back (born there actually), but I have some insights for different areas and would be happy to share them. I'll follow you after sending this, just message me whenever the mood strikes you.
Keeper · M
I left the “once” great state of PA during the Covid overreach and headed to the beaches of Coastal Carolinas.

Best move ever
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Keeper Oh yeah the Carolina’s are beautiful. I loved the beaches in SC and Georgia! And no offense to PA but that’s probably my least favorite state. Apart from NJ and Delaware 😆
CestManan · 46-50, F
Oh that is easy - Colorado Springs or somewhere very close to that city. Not Denver though.

Right now I cannot really uproot because the place I live is paid for and is costing me very little but if I had to leave, CS here I come! :D

I feel more at home there than in my own city.
@CestManan oh wow now I want to go even more...maybe one day you will be able to relocate ❤️
CestManan · 46-50, F
@starmitzy Oh yes, it is definitely worthy of a vacation. You will definitely need your GPS though - the roads are pretty confusing. They are not laid out in a grid fashion like some cities.
Of course there is a place there called Manitou Springs that needs to be checked out. Kind of a "city within a city." Historic and souvenir shops, a tourist spot.
And just outside Manitou there is Garden of the Gods which is arguably a very tiny version of the Grand Canyon. Well here is one decent photo I took a while back.

@CestManan 😍 beautiful..there's something magical about desert and rock, esp those incredible formations
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I'd just like to go hiking with a tent and never stop travelling. Wake up somewhere new every few days
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Entwistle I did that in a van for 10 months. I miss it terribly.
Teslin · M
I wish I could find a place that I could be on the beach or in the mountains within an hour.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Teslin All the best places! A place to chill and a place to adventure.

Exactly @AlchemyFox 😊

The US Pacific Northwest
or
The hills of Virginia/TN/North Carolina in the southeastern US
WhateverWorks · 36-40
I bounced around the US a lot before I landed in the PNW. Love it here.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@WhateverWorks I’m looking into up there. What do you like about it?
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Temperate seasons; beautiful forests, mountains, waterfalls, lakes/bays etc; good art/music culture; and accepting of people from different walks of life. ‘Weird’ is welcomed, not scorn. I like that there’s a little bit of whatever you’re in the mood for here. @AlchemyFox

Outdoorfreedom · 56-60, M

Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
I did that 3 1/2 years ago. i live in BC paradise now, beautiful beaches, mountains to hike and explore. I love it here, but if I was to make another move it would be to the UK.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@Jeephikelove is that British Columbia? That sounds AWESOME!

Where in the UK?
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@AlchemyFox yes. ☺️
Somewhere in the country side south of London. Or perhaps south of Limerick, Ireland.

USA, just don't know which state yet
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@SW-User I’m a little surprised why someone would want move here. Why the US? It is beautiful here, though I’ve never been out of the country. There’s lots of beauty in every state.
SW-User
@AlchemyFox I find it interesting and very beautiful ❤️

Europe is beautiful in parts too, there's just more opportunity in the states. Some people think the U.S is politically divisive but at least it has active political debate and states get to have their politics represented in a way that actually makes a difference.

@Darksideinthenight2 Bet you don't believe in gravity either. You are ignorant, willfully. Your beliefs mean zilch. Provide objectively researched scientific evidence to the contrary of the 97-99% of scientists' or don't spew your nonsense to me. I am tired of ignorant folks like yourself. You are boring attention seekers.

Deniers of facts people do not find comfortable like yourself refusing research is the reason we have these difficulties. No worries. Earth will get along better with fewer humans.

BTW, conflating earthquake predictions is silly and grade school arguments. Geologists are the first to say they lacl longterm accuracy. Learn some science AND the scientific method. For now, youjearn an "F" in science.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Neoerectus Awfully sensitive and insecure about your slam dunk "facts". You are a sheep reciting the narrative by rote. You are incapable of critical thought.

@SW-User Yes! There’s some awesome spots still around where they keep it old school. I used to live in Statesville for a bit. I believe it was called Love Valley and you could only pass through on horseback. It’s like going back to simpler times. I love the south for that lol
