I Love Blues Music

I love blues.. ever since I discovered it via the film, the Blues Brothers....but i don't know much.. as in don't know enough to know what I like or dont...

So could anyone perhaps recommend some for me to try?

A lot on YouTube. Howlin' Wolf. Muddy Waters. John Lee Hooker. My introduction to the Blues came from the early-British Invasion. The Stones, the Animals, Manfred Mann. I found the originals from there.

There are many variations of blues music.
The Delta blues is probably the most authentic. Often just a singer or maybe a guitarist/singer.
Robert Johnson; Bessie Smith; Blind Willie Jefferson are three of it's most celebrated artists.
There's a legend surrounding Johnson that is as scary as it is fascinating !
I won't tell you what it is but it's easy enough to research!
From there you might go north to Chicago where there are a different styles from the Mississippi or Delta blues.
And on from there!!

I'm sure there was a BBC series called The story of the Blues. A documentary. Probably available on YouTube !
Might be a good place to start.
Time in a bar , Rudolph hineraghan
All jizzed up , swenyal whomak
On the sugar train hills , Gandhim wolf
These are some classics

Try some of Led Zeppelin's early blues numbers. Dazed and Confused, Since I've been Loving you, When the Levee Breaks and You Shook Me come to mind.

Yes, it is a heavy, electric style of blues but it is soulful and has depth. Many people reject the idea of LZ because they are regarded as a loud rock band but they are masters of gutsy, heartfelt blues music!

@Curiosity: well not that i dont like loud rock too :) i loved the singer of led zep with Alison Krauss

Michael Bloomfields "If you love these Blues......." album he did in collaboration with Guitar Player mag. Covers most of the bigguns, he even articulates keys and time signatures. Michael was Dylan's first electric guitar player
I have a lot on my profile if you wan to browse
