What do the terms in bold mean in this song?
I should’ve been a cowboy. I should’ve learned to roll around. Wearing my six shooter, riding my pony across the cattle drive. Stealing a young girl’s heat, just like Gene and Roy. Singing those campfire songs….oooh, I should’ve been a cowboy…..
A six shooter was a common revolver of the day, Colt being the most popular.
Gene Autry & Roy Rogers
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Vin53 The two foremost singing cowboys of the 40s & 50s. Both made a slew of Western movies as the cowboy heroes who always wound up serenading the ladies -- well, only Dale Evans in Roy's case -- after licking the bad guys with their six shooter guns and fists. Gene Autry also had a regular radio program about his Melody Ranch adventures. Rogers started out as the lead singer in the Sons of the Pioneers country singing group.
