My dad always told me a good rule of thumb is that any rock or metal band that's a minimum of 20 years old qualifies as classic rock. Not sure where the number comes from buuuut that would also mean any bands from between 2000 and 2006 now qualify as well.
And by 2030 bands from the 2010s that shaped the younger half of Gen Z will also qualify. Assuming you go by the 20 year rule of thumb, that is.

Eventually it will be. I consider the Beatles and the Stones classic rock, my sister would list Roxy Music, Van Halen. Pop would list Chuck Berry, Fats Domino.

Today...music from the 90's is now what music from the 60's was back in the 90's. We're old man.
